in producing this article, the authors have further opened the door for further discussion on the prevalence and increase in Eating Disorders in the Middle East. The Arab World has often been associated with low rates of Disordered Eating and furthermore in those reaching the clinically relevant threshold for diagnosis.
There is a great need for culturally sensitive assessment and investigation for ED symptoms across all age groups in the region. A slightly different presentation of symptomology often results in tests and subsequent treatment that negates the primary issue of an undiagnosed ED.
