The present study was undertaken to elucidate the pattern of growth of male and female Liza parsia of Ashtamudi lake. The present study provides baseline information on the length weight relationship of L. parsia from Ashtamudi lake, Kollam. The study was undertaken to elucidate the pattern of growth and general well being of Liza parsia of Ashtamudi lake. Materials and Methods: The study was based on the length and weight data of 417 fishes, of which, 259 females of length range 91 mm to 187 m (20-110 g) and 158 males of length range 92-175 mm (20-90 g). The method suggested by Le Cren was followed to compute the length weight relationship. Results: Relationship between total length and weight of female of L. parsia obtained by logarithmic regression are female: Log Y = -1.406+2.7216 Log L, male: Log Y = -1.373+2.6473 Log L. Conclusion: Study indicates that an allometric pattern of growth was shown by the species and it was found to be higher in female.]]>Kalayci, F., N. Samsun, S. Bilgin and O.
