of the performance of some new approaches including fuzzy rule-based modeling
and fuzzy regressions analysis in rainfall-runoff modeling which is a
well-known and challenging problem in hydraulic engineering. On the basis
of the results obtained for Halil Rud River, central Iran, it can be suggested
that the fuzzy methodology is efficiently capable of handling highly scattered
data. The developed fuzzy rule-based model shows flexibility and ability
in modeling an ill-defined relationship between input and output variables.
The two fuzzy regression models developed seem to be more informative
