INTRODUCTION
Cryptinae is the largest subfamily of Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera) which comprises of more than 300 species worldwide. It can be found in mostly all kinds of habitats in the world. Typically they are parasitic in cocoons of the Lepidoptera, sawflies, braconids, ichneumonids and Neuroptera. Some of them attack egg cocoons of spiders and pupae of Diptera.
The most common feature to distinguish a cryptine is the sternaulus. It is usually more than half as long as mesopleuron, often reaching the hind edge of mesopleuron. The second recurrent vein is always present in almost all species. First abdominal segment slender, or sometime of moderates proportion. Glymma always lacking.
In this paper we present a catalogue of Malaysian Cryptinae deposited in several repository centers all around the world. They are type specimens described from Malaysia. We also include 5 non-type specimens but were recorded in Malaysia. They are Amauromorpha accepta Tosquinet, Diatora lissonota (Viereck), Diatora prodeniae Ashmead, Paraphylax rubriornatus Cameron and Austriteles armatorius Gauld. Sketia brookeana is also included although the type was described from Indonesia. The reason is because its junior synonym, Sketia nigrispina, was decsribed from Malaysia. The aim of this paper is to prepare a catalogue of malaysian cryptine and it is hope to be very useful information for the taxonomists who are interested to study them (Yu and Horstmann, 1992).
Each citation shows the valid species or subspecies name, followed by the name of author and the year of the first description. The reference quoted is the original description of the species. Type specimen information are listed in the following order: type location by country and if available by states or exact locality, type depository and sex of the type.
