  Free Space Optic (FSO) can be considered as an attractive option to fiber optic. FSO has the capability to go beyond the limit of fiber optics. Unfortunately, due to the effects of dispersion in the atmosphere, FSO, as a point-to-point communication system that requires line-of-sight transmission; suffers from attenuation and signal loss. Thus, practical and detailed research is needed to improve this wireless system. In this study, simulation on FSO propagation using measured parameter values was carried out in order to gain better understanding on the pulse behavior in free space with better level of accuracy. Using MATLAB and experimental parameter values, a more precise model can be obtained and analyzed. This will allow some level of prediction on the behavior of the propagating light pulse in the atmosphere and subsequently the FSO system performance can be further improved.

  In this study, sonochemical treatment is used to synthesize nanostructured vanadium pentoxide, V2O5 with different duration of time and mineralizers. Eight samples of V2O5 have been prepared using KNO3 and KCl as mineralizers that undergo sonochemical treatment with different duration i.e., 30, 60, 90 and 120 min, respectively. These samples were denoted as KNO30, KNO60, KNO90, KNO120, KCl30, KCl60, KCl90 and KCl120. Nanostructured V2O5 prepared via ultrasound irradiation for 30 min in KCl (KCl30) was chosen as starting material to synthesis vanadium phosphorus oxide catalyst (denoted VPOS30KCl). All the materials synthesized was characterized by using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area measurement (BET), chemical analysis, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and temperature programmed reduction (H2-TPR). Catalytic properties for n-butane oxidation of the catalyst, VPOS30KCl was investigated by using a fixed-bed microreactor at 673 K (GHSV = 2400 h-1). SEM micrographs show that the morphology of the V2O5 changed from platelet-like particles into nanorods after 90 min of sonochemical treatment. XRD patterns detected that the potassium ion from the mineralizers was incorporated into the V2O5 structure after prolonged sonochemical treatment duration. H2-TPR profiles shown that VPOS30KCl gave higher amount of reactive oxygen species (O--V4+) removed which will expect to give higher activity. Catalytic evaluation showed that VPOS30KCl gave higher conversion (19%) while retaining the selectivity towards maleic anhydride (48%) compared to the bulk VPO catalyst prepared in the same organic medium (χC4: 14%).

  Integration of photovoltaic system with battery energy storage system is always seen as a better way to utilize the available energy from renewable energies. Considering continuous sustainable battery charging discharging using the solar photovoltaic, this study proposes hierarchical switching charging discharging system for solar photovoltaic system application. This study will briefly describe the methodological design of the overall system which is proposed to control between the dual and more battery energy storages. The results of the developed hardware will validate the methodological design proposed earlier and the results also, effectively justify the developed system’s performances.
