  Background and Objective: Seagrass extract is a natural plant biostimulant which can be utilized for enhancing plant growth at various stages. The present study was undertaken to explore the application of Zostera marina seagrass extract as foliar spray on salt stressed tomato plants under green house conditions. Methodology: The one set of green house grown tomato plants were sprayed with seagrass extract and another set with water on 15th day of salt treatment. The accumulation of reactive oxygen species, antioxidant enzyme activities and their physiological responses towards different concentration of salt stress were examined after the 3rd treatment. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA using SPSS software version 17. Results: The initial studies revealed that the salt stressed plants shown variation in physiology, Relative Water Content (RWC) and accumulation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the leaves. The activities of ascorbate peroxidase (APX), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) were found to have increased in seagrass extract sprayed plants when compared with the plants sprayed with water. In contrast to APX, SOD, CAT, the activities of peroxidase (POX) were declined in the seagrass treated plants. Conclusion: After 30 days, the plants sprayed with seagrass extract were more efficient in controlling the damage caused by the stress and it has shown enhanced activities of tolerance to the salt stressed plants compared to the control. Further, presence of functional groups and constituents were found in seagrass extract through FTIR and GC-MS analyses.

  This research investigated the effects of levels turmeric extract nanocapsule or nanoparticle (NP) in ration on broiler performance and fat deposition. Seventy-two Lohmann broilers chicks were randomly divided into 6 treatments with 3 replications, each complied 4 broilers. Six treatments were Basal ration+bacitracin 50 ppm (T0), Basal-Ration/BR (T1), BR+nanocapsule 0.2% (T2), BR+nanocapsule 0.4% (T3), BR+nanocapsule 0.6% (T4), BR+nanocapsule 0.8% (T5). The analyzed variables covered production performances (feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), carcass weight), fats deposition (abdominal fat, subcutaneous fat, EPA, DHA, total cholesterol). The data were subject to one way ANOVA analysis followed by Duncan test in case of significant effect. Results showed that the nanocapsule levels significantly (p<0.01) affected abdominal fat, increased meat EPA and DHA. It showed significant (p<0.05) effects on subcutaneous fat, total cholesterol of liver and weight gain, but no significant (p>0.05) effects on feed consumption, FCR and carcass weight. Accordingly, 0.4% turmeric extract nanocapsule, equal to 50 ppm bacitracin, was a compatible feed additive for broiler chicken ration to improve the meat quality of DHA-enriched and least-subcutaneous fat without negatively affecting performance.

  This research investigated the effects of liquid turmeric extract nanocapsule levels in drinking water on broiler performance and total cholesterol. Eighty-four Lohmann broilers chicks were randomly divided into 7 treatments with 3 replications, each with 4 broilers. Seven treatments were drinking water (DW) + additive bacitracin 12 mg/1000 ml (P1), DW only (P2), DW + 2% nanocapsule (P3), DW + 4% nanocapsule (P4), DW + 6% nanocapsule (P5), DW + 8% nanocapsule (P6) and DW + 10% nanocapsule (P7). The analyzed variables covered production performances (weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and water consumption) and total cholesterol (serum, meat and liver). The data were subject to one-way ANOVA analysis followed by Duncan’s test in case of significant effect. The results showed that nanocapsule levels significantly (p<0.05) affected on weight gain, feed consumption, total cholesterol of meat and liver. It showed no significant (p>0.05) effects on feed conversion, water consumption and total cholesterol of serum. Accordingly, 2% liquid turmeric extract nanocapsule, equal to 1.73 mg/100 ml curcumin, was a compatible feed additive for drinking water of broiler chicken to improve the feed efficiency and total cholesterol of meat and liver without negatively affecting performance.

  Background and Objective: Ornithoptera croesus toeantei is an endemic butterfly in the island of Morotai north Maluku discovered by Parrot and Schmid at 1894. The existence of this butterfly as an endemic species has not been published yet. The objective of this study is to analyze the genetic variability of O.c. toeantei based on the morphological characters and molecular PCR-RAPD in several level of altitude of hotspots on the Morotai Island. Materials and Methods: This research was conducted using the morphometric description method and the RAPD-PCR method. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively in the UPGMA cluster pattern using the MPSV program version 3.22. Results: The result of the study informs that in general an endemic of O.c. toeantei has a high genetic diversity on intraspecies level. The value of 0.56 on the morphometric dendrogram and 0.56 on the molecular dendrogram RAPD showed that the similarity between clusters on morphological characters is in line with the character of molecular-RAPD. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is a similarity on the clustering pattern between UPGMA analysis at morphometric and molecular-RAPD character of O.c. toeantei which showed that the level of the altitude gives some influences to the genetic diversity.
