  Finger millet, one of the important minor cereals contains 0.3-3% polyphenols. The millet is known for its health benefits such as hypoglycemic, hypocholestrolemic and anti-ulcerative characteristics, besides for its extremely good storage qualities. It is generally presumed that, the polyphenols of millet have major beneficial role in some of these health beneficial characteristics of millet. However, a very limited reports are available relating to the varietal variations with respect to the polyphenol contents, methods of isolation and characterization of the polyphenols and their nutritional implications. Recently, some information on the characteristics of millet polyphenols, their localization in the millet kernel and also on their nutraceutical ability has been generated. This review deals with the information published as well as under publication on the millet polyphenols in general and their isolation, characterization and also their nutraceutical potential in particular.

  Recent times have seen meteoric increase in the data that are available using which we can develop automated data-driven techniques of extracting useful knowledge. Data mining is the important step in this process of knowledge discovery. One of the key problem in most of the data mining applications is discovering the frequent item sets. Scanning of the huge data available to discover frequent item sets are computationally expensive. A conventional multi-core processor might not very effective multi-threading capabilities to be able to process large amounts of data leading to sequential implementation of a considerably large number of processes. Such sequential implementation leads to high computation times due to pipeline latency and other issues. Due to this limitation there is an increasing interest in the researchers to develop parallel data mining algorithms for faster implementation and efficient use of available GPU architectures. Pincer search is one the data mining algorithms which is used to discover the maximum frequent sets. Pincer search algorithm reduces both the number of times the database is scanned and also the number of candidate considered. In this study, we discuss a way to parallelize the pincer search algorithm to further speed up the process of discovering maximum frequent sets.

  This study focuses on analyzing the demand for raw material supply for a university dining mess using time series method which falls under quantitative approach of demand forecasting and gives a detailed step by step process of analysis. This method accurately forecasts the daily demand within a span of four months, thereby eliminating the concern of mess authorities on their budgeting and supply of raw material for university dining mess on a daily basis.

  Augmented reality uses technology to take the real world and superimposes digital image and sound into it. By using the technology of Augmented Reality (AR), we can make the real world we see more digitally interactive with help of computer vision and object recognition. It allows us to add digital content to almost anything such as printed material, geographic locations and objects. We can use the available AR technology in innumerable ways to improve our classrooms and refine the learning process. Academia is one field that should definitely benefit from all these technological advances. Hence such ideas that allow us to harness and apply this state of the art technology for the improvement of the crux of our education system should be encouraged.

  The two subsets of nature inspired algorithms are swarm intelligence based and Bio-inspired algorithms. Swarm intelligence based algorithms behave as a sub set for Bio-inspired algorithms. Some other sources of inspiration are Physics-based Chemistry-based algorithms. Though not all of them are particularly efficient however, some of them have become popular tools for modelling and solving real world problems. The purpose of this review is to present a brief description about the four major types of swarm intelligent based algorithms along with their applications so as to provide a comprehensive view on their functioning and performance. The algorithms covered in this study are Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO), Ant Colony System (ACS), the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC), Cuckoo Search (CS).

  Humanity never ceases to amaze us with their advent in technology. Simplifying lives has always been the goal of these new inventions. This manifest effort has worked solely for one purpose that is to “turn the fantasy island into reality”. Give the power of technology they deserve. Knowing our surroundings has been metaphorically said recurrently but we are developing an application which gives a vision to the visually impaired and blind. It’ll tell them what’s around them. The more the wide angle of the camera, more scenes will be captured by the camera. We try to achieve this using ‘One Shot Learning’. Instead of loading thousands of training examples, we feed the network a handful of images for it to learn. It makes use of the fact that a 6 years old kid can categorize thousands of objects based on prior knowledge of their respective categories. This application will talk to you on regular intervals, announcing presence of object in your nearby proximity.

  Prediction systems have been flooding the IT industry ever since the concept of information retrieval came into existence. Every organization uses one of these prediction systems which helps the users of the system to predict useful information on the basis of their past records. The landslide prediction system aims to use this concept for not just different places but different terrains as well. NASA maintains the record of the landslides that have happened in the past, this record includes details such as area, terrain, rainfall, population, vegetation cover, etc. If this data can be classified on the basis of the patterns mined, it becomes very easy for the authorities to inform the people living in a particular area about landslides or development of a colony on a landslide prone area can be avoided. Not only that, reasons for landslide occurrence can be taken note off and be avoided. For example, lack of vegetation is causing landslides in an area. If this data is provided and wisely used, lives lost can be greatly reduced. This study aims to find ways to obtain this data.
