  In this study, a study of conceptual design for the polymeric-based composite automotive pedal box system is presented. This study describes the importance of the concurrent engineering technique in the total design activity. Several idea generation methods like the extension of the search space, the morphological chart, the exploitation of experiences, the gallery method and the voice of customer had been employed. Extensive application of the morphological charts enabled designers to identify the sub-solutions to each sub-functions of the pedal box system. The evaluation matrix method was used to decide on the final concept for the mounting bracket arrangement. The final solution for the polymeric-based composite pedal box system was three pedals mounted onto a common mounting bracket. The clutch and the brake pedals were pivoted onto a common shaft and the accelerator pedal had its own shaft. All the methods used were finally compared and evaluated.

  The present work aims at finding an optimized explicit finite difference scheme for the solution of problems involving pure heat transfer from surfaces of Pangasius Sutchi fish samples suddenly exposed to a cooling environment. Regular shaped packages in the form of infinite slab were considered and a generalized mathematical model was written in dimensionless form. An accurate sample of data set was chosen from the experimental work and was used to seek an optimized scheme of solutions. A fully explicit finite difference scheme has been thoroughly studied from the viewpoint of stability, the required time for execution and precision. The characteristic dimension (half thickness) was divided into a number of divisions; n = 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 respectively. All the possible options of dimensionless time (the Fourier number) increments were taken one by one to give the best convergence and truncation error criteria. The simplest explicit finite difference scheme with n = (10) and stability factor ( (δX )2 /δτ = 2) was found to be reliable and accurate for prediction purposes.

  Quality Circle (QC) proponents suggest a wide array of positive results when this participation technique is used either in manufacturing or in service sector. This study is to determine whether QCs in one sector are performing more effectively than the other. This assessment includes technical aspects, length of participation, training, members’ feelings about QCs, job satisfaction and job commitment. The study illustrates the impacts of participation on 109 QCs members from five Malaysian companies participated in a survey. Results showed that Industrial QCs members were more enthusiastic than service QCs members in terms of involvement in QCs activities and showed higher job satisfaction and job commitment compared to members in service organizations.
