  With rapid changes in technology, product manufacturing techniques and extreme market changes, the life cycles of high-tech products have become increasingly shorter. The high-tech industry must continue research and development (R and D) and innovation to improve New Product Development (NPD) industry performance. This research analyzed the influences of R and D management activities and design/manufacturing integration mechanisms introduced by Taiwan’s high-tech industry on NPD performance. This study on the relationship between R and D management capacity and NPD performance considers the intervening variables of industry and corporate position. Taiwan’s high-tech industry has gradually entered the technical capacity-based and design/manufacturing integrated industry improvement era. This research reveals the significance of academic and empirical application to the high technology industry. The research result found that the stronger the R and D management capacity of Taiwans high-tech industry, the more significant its influence on NPD performance, the better the design/manufacturing integration mechanisms of Taiwan’s high-tech industry, the more significant the influence on NPD performance, the stronger the R and D management capacity of Taiwans high-tech industry, the better the design/manufacturing integration mechanism and the more significant their influences on NPD performance, corporate scale was not necessarily the major factor for the NPD success and corporate scale did not result in significant differences in NPD performance and the higher the leading degree of corporate techniques, the more significant the NPD performance.

  In recent years, business operation tends to be internationalized and the production cost increases day by day, the technology promotion of Taiwan’s hi-tech enterprises met its bottleneck; lots of industries have introduced Knowledge Management (KM) and emphasized the knowledge absorptive capacity of the employees to promote the organizational business performance under this competition environment. This research studied the influence of organizational knowledge ability and knowledge absorptive capacity on organization performance in Taiwan’s hi-tech enterprises. The research found that: the industry with strong organizational knowledge ability has positive influence on organization performance; the industry with strong organizational knowledge ability has positive influence on knowledge absorptive capacity and the industry with strong knowledge absorptive capacity has positive influence on organization performance. Therefore, the organizational knowledge ability and knowledge absorption capacity of Taiwan’s high-tech enterprises have positive influence on the promotion of their organization performance.

  The high-tech industry is one of the most important links in Taiwan’s economic development. Research and Development (R and D) technology and management is the key to sustainable enterprises. However, the involvement of many difficult quantification factors and the fuzzy character of human subjective judgment on the R and D management content and process makes R and D management effectiveness evaluation more difficult. This study adopted the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) from the Fuzzy Theory to develop a set of systematized evaluation indices for R and D management effectiveness. This method is designed to assist enterprises in conducting R and D management effectiveness evaluations to achieve the goal increasing enterprise competitiveness. According to the outcome of this study, the researchers found the importance and weight of these major aspects for Taiwan’s high-tech industry’s R and D management effectiveness is shown as follows: R and D and Innovation (0.346), R and D Process (0.269), Customer (0.209) and R and D Personnel (0.184). Moreover, among the effectiveness evaluations on implementing the R and D management in certain industries, R and D and Innovation and R and D Process are determined as the important item that revealed how Taiwan`s high-tech industries are particular about achieving R and D management through the completed R and D and innovation process.
