  In recent years, according to Malaysian Medical Association, there has been a dramatic increase in the prevalence of obesity in Malaysia as well as in other regions of the world. Obesity is the commonest nutritional disorders. Therefore, this research aims to suggest people to have healthy foods with the lowest cost as possible. Fuzzy Linear Programming Approach has been employed to solve the dietary problem giving science, computerized advice on food and physical activity.

  The aim of the research is to quantify the changes of coastline nearby the reclamation of sand for runway of airport Sultan Mahmud, Kuala Terengganu. The reclamation was built towards sea with beach nourishment in order to accommodate the operation of 747-400 aircraft landing at the airport. From the visual observation the offset changes from the original position of shoreline due to erosion was more than 10 m during 2010 to 2011. The numerical method that used for solve coastline case in this research is Littoral Processes and Coastline Kinetics numerical model (LITPACK). The results from the numerical model were then compared and verified with data from satellite. The computation of shoreline evolution was calibrated and validated by changing the bed roughness of the seabed. The method of Root Mean Square Percentage Error (RMSPE) was performed to find the percentage error of the simulation against the actual data. From the results obtain, it is found that the bed roughness of 0.004 m shows the good agreement with the actual data where the RMSPE is 0.76%. It is also found that the reclamation of sand for runway platform contributes severe erosion on an average of 21.3 m at the north side and accretion on an average of 24.8 m at the south sides of the between in year 2010-2013.

  Paediatric is one of the branches in medicine dealing with health and medical care for infants, children and adolescents. Recent findings show that the number of paediatric patients is increasing year by year. In this study, a data of paediatric patients from 2005 until 2015 is collected from Specialist Clinic HSNZ, Kuala Terengganu. By using discrete least square method of numerical analysis and conjugate gradient method in unconstrained optimization, an estimation of 2016 data can be forecasted. These methods have been chosen based on its simplicity and accuracy. The calculations are based on linear and quadratic approach together with their errors. Results showed that the conjugate gradient method is comparable with the quadratic least square method.

  The impact of the financial economics of damage to buildings caused by natural disasters flooding from year to year has been increasing. Thus, the role of insurance companies is one of the important things and periodically they evaluate the large proportion of the premiums charged to insurance participants. In this study, the model calculation and evaluation of insurance premiums as the main component in flood risk management was analyzed. The analysis begins with determining the annual average of the compensation index, calculate the premium per unit of insurance on the basis of parameters of disparate and then determine the proportion of premiums, reserves as well as reinsurance in order to meet payment of the amount of the claims when losses houses damaged by the floods occurred. The case study was carried out on the flood disaster in the Citarum watershed in Southern Bandung, Indonesia. The analysis showed that the greater the initial backup along with an increase in quotas on reinsurance during the period before the disaster and the increase in the value of premiums, all of these strategies can form a scheme whereby the insurance company to cover the financial losses caused by floods.

  In this study, a new search direction for Broyden family method is proposed for solving unconstrained optimization problems. The new search direction is develop by hybridization the two search direction in line search method known as quasi-Newton and conjugate gradient method under certain parameter. This method is popular as Broyden-CG method. The suggestion method has an attractive properties which is its search direction is sufficiently descent direction at every iteration. Under mild conditions, the researchers prove that the proposed method has global convergence.

  This study develops mathematical model for determining of Wuku name in Pawukon Saka and Pawukon Jawa. By utilizing the Chinese remainder problem, the generated model can be utilized to confirm the truth of the data carved in various inscriptions found in Indonesia. The established model can also be employed in deciding Wuku name in the inscriptions which do not contain Wuku names. As many as 28 inscriptions from prior to 1500 before christ era and a relatively new inscription are utilized as the media for application model generation. The result corrects of Wuku names in three inscriptions and confirms the truth of Wuku name writings in eight inscriptions. Among 17 inscriptions that do not have Wuku names, Wuku names of 11 of them can be decided and 6 of them cannot due to insufficiency of the data needed including Laguna Bay Inscription from Philippines. The name of Sadwara day of an inscription called Phallus Sukuh can be determined.

  Now a days, Conjugate Gradient (CG) has been a subject of extensive research by many researchers. In this study, a new CG method has been proposed. This new CG coefficient, βk is compared to other four CG methods in their capabilities to solve fifteen selected test functions with different number of variables. The algorithm is established under exact line search and computed via Matlab R2012. This new method should possess the sufficient descent and global convergence properties. The results are interpreted into performance profile by using sigmaplot.

  A hybrid of quasi-Newton and conjugate gradient method combines the search direction of the two methods to produce a new algorithm for solving unconstrained optimization functions. In this study, a modified hybrid Quasi-Newton method is presented where a new conjugate gradient coefficient is employed in the search direction. Based on the numerical results, the proposed hybrid method proved to be robust in comparison to the original quasi-Newton method and other hybrid methods.

  In this study, the formula of longshore sediment transport rate is applied to identify shoreline evolution around of runway platform of Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. This formula was developed based on phenomena of fluid movement through the sediment particle. The sediment with high permeability become more loose, this causes sediment easily to move. Based on the simulation result by using this formula, shoreline profile around this airport occur an erosion and accretion. The accretion occurs on the north side of this airport. The average accretion in this area during the 1 year is 4.75 and 23.56 m during 3 years. The erosion occurs on the south side of this airport. The average erosion in this area during 1 year is 5.43 m while the erosion becomes worst when the simulation is done for 3 years that is equal to 20.21 m. It is required an effective coastal management and coastal protection in order to minimize this erosion in the future.

  This study considers an iterative method which is a nonlinear conjugate gradient method for solving unconstrained optimization problems. We propose a new conjugate gradient method satisfying sufficient descent condition when strong Wolfe line search is used. We then compare the new method against other known conjugate gradient methods. Numerical results show that the proposed method is efficient relative to the number of iteration and computational time.

  The cutwidth minimization problem consists of finding a linear layout of a graph so that, the maximum linear cut of edges (i.e., the number of edges that cut a line between consecutive vertices) is minimized. This study, starts by reviewing previous exact approaches for special classes of graphs as well as a linear integer formulation for the general problem. We propose a branch and bound algorithm based on different lower bounds on the cutwidth of partial solutions.

  The steepest descent method is the simplest gradient method for solving unconstrained optimization problems. In this study, a new scaled search direction of steepest descent method is proposed. The proposed method is motivated by Andrei’s approach of scaled conjugate gradient method. The numerical results show that the proposed method outperforms than the other classical steepest descent method.

  There are two factors that influence diet problem which are rates of diabetes and other diet-related diseases are growing and fluctuation of the food price. This paper discusses human diet problem with fuzzy price. The approach used linear programming with fuzzy objective coefficient using linear membership function. The result showed that the uncertainty of food prices slightly affected the budget of human diet.

  In this study, we present a new search direction known as the CG-Broyden method which uses the search direction of the conjugate gradient method approach in the quasi-Newton methods. The new algorithm is compared with the quasi-Newton methods in terms of the number of iterations and CPU-time. The Broyden’s family method is used as an updating formula for the approximation of the Hessian for both methods. Our numerical analysis provides strong evidence that our CG-Broyden method is more efficient than the ordinary Broyden method. Besides, we also prove that the new algorithm is globally convergent.
