In this study a level converter based on GaAs pHEMT technology for a MFC (Multifunctional Chip) is designed, simulated and tested for the application of T/R (Transmit/Receive) module for an X band phase array radar system. It has the advantages of smaller chip size, lower power consumption, higher efficiency, lower cost and high stability. The circuit design is based on a feedback and feed-forward network which compensates the chip process variations during the wafer fabrication and operation temperature changing. It results the designed chip has a high stability. Its supply voltage is -5 v with a shared bias generator, this allows reducing the power consumption compared with the other design at -7.5 v in the literature. The testing results have shown that the proposed novel design has met all the specifications given in this project. |

A large body of evidence has demonstrated that COO stereotype
is a typical cognitive bias of Chinese consumers, how to inhibit the stereotype
is an important research proposition. This study tends to choose information
of two product-related attributes and information of two non-product-related
attributes through reports materials of negative information of foreign brands
in media in recent years to constitute four experimental groups. It finds that
the negative information involving quality and price profiteering is of significant
inhibition on quality evaluation, attitude preference and purchase intention
of subjects on specific foreign brands while the negative information involving
commercial bribery is not of significant inhibition, which shows that the inhibition
on specific foreign brand preference by negative information of foreign brands
is related to differences of product attributes. The inhibition on subjects
quality evaluation, attitude preference and purchase intention of abstract foreign
brands by negative information involving food quality is significantly higher
than by information of notebook quality, price profiteering and commercial bribery,
which shows food safety is of the highest accessibility. Meanwhile, the quality
evaluation, attitude preference and purchase intention of specific foreign brands
by subjects are lower than those of specific local brands, which shows a significant
inhibition on foreign brand preference and local brand bias by negative information
of foreign brands. |

In various wireless sensor networks applications, the sensor
node positioning problem is the basis and key technology of IOF (internet of
things), which is essential for IOF monitoring activities. Due to the influence
of environment and many other factors, the data collected by sensor node is
easily generate errors, leading to the existing location algorithm or model
positioning effect not so satisfactory. Aiming to this problem, this paper using
internet (Geometric) topology structure information, based on the model of Location
Estimation-Locality Preserving Canonical Correlation Analysis (LE-LPCCA), through
transforming the depiction of signal space and physical space local information,
proposed a new IOF positioning model LE-RLPCCA. Compared with the kind methods
at present, model LE-RLPCCA has a better robustness of error-tolerance technology,
positioning accuracy and stability improved evidently. |

In this study, an automated testing system for a reflection-type Vector Modulators (VM) comprised of a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and a LabVIEW based testing software is presented. The testing system with a friendly Graphic User Interface (GUI) is able to evaluate all the functionality of the VMs and allows the user to test the FPGA module step-by-step or to automate the testing in a sequential way. In case of multiple VM testing, all the VMs can be tested in one time by automatically sending the control commands to manipulate the bias voltage of each VM. Only one FPGA based hardware is needed in the testing system for the bias voltage control. This present testing system is highly efficient for VM testing and can be easily generalized to the testing of other VMs. |

This study presents the temporal Coupled-Mode Theory (CMT) analysis of a K-band
MMIC (Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) bandpass filter with dual orthogonal
resonant modes. Two test methods are applied and compared in the filter response
measurement. The dimensions of the MMIC filter, whose chip size is 1.9×1.35
mm, are optimized based on the FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation assisted
temporal coupled-mode theory. As a two-port reciprocal system, the transmission
and reflection responses of the filter are deduced. GaAs MMIC IPD (Integrated
Passive Device) technology is applied for chip fabrication. The test results
using a probe station fit well with the simulation results. A testing fixture
is introduced to model the practical application scenario, whose measurement
results, after de-embedment, have shown consistency with the simulation and
the probe station test results. |

This study presents a design of a highly reliable shift register
based on TSMC 0.18 μm process which can efficiently fight against the Single
Event Upset (SEU). A bilateral Power on Reset (POR) block, together with bit-line
segregation and tri-mode redundancy technologies are applied in this design
to comprehensively enhance the SEU hardening performance at both system level
and circuit level. Assisted by the theory of transient circuit analysis, the
shift registers SEU hardening performance is achieved from the aspects of both
schematic and layout. A current pulse which is used to emulate the SEU effect,
is injected in the circuit for verification. The result of simulation shows
great improvement of the SEU tolerance. With its high reliability and radiation
tolerance, the present shift register can be applied to CMOS chip designs in
the field of aerospace. |

The thermophilic filamentous fungus Talaromyces emersonii secretes a variety of hydrolytic enzymes that are of interest for processing of biomass into fuel. Many carbohydrases have been isolated and characterized from this fungus, but no studies had been performed on peptidases. In this study, two acid-acting endopeptidases were isolated and characterized from the culture filtrate of T. emersonii. One of these enzymes was identified as a member of the recently classified glutamic peptidase family and was subsequently named T. emersonii glutamic peptidase 1 (TGP1). The second enzyme was identified as an aspartyl peptidase (PEP1). TGP1 was cloned and sequenced and shown to exhibit 64 and 47% protein identity to peptidases from Aspergillus niger and Scytalidium lignocolum, respectively. Substrate profiling of 16 peptides determined that TGP1 has broad specificity with a preference for large residues in the P1 site, particularly Met, Gln, Phe, Lys, Glu, and small amino acids at P1` such as Ala, Gly, Ser, or Thr. This enzyme efficiently cleaves an internally quenched fluorescent substrate containing the zymogen activation sequence (kcat/Km = 2 x 105 M-1 s-1). Maximum hydrolysis occurs at pH 3.4 and 50 °C. The reaction is strongly inhibited by a transition state peptide analog, TA1 (Ki = 1.5 nM), as well as a portion of the propeptide sequence, PT1 (Ki = 32 nM). Ex vivo studies show that hyphal extension of T. emersonii in complex media is unaffected by the aspartyl peptidase inhibitor pepstatin but is inhibited by TA1 and PT1. This study provides insight into the functional role of the glutamic peptidase TGP1 for growth of T. emersonii. |

Cysteine proteases of the Clan CA (papain) family are the predominant protease group in primitive invertebrates. Cysteine protease inhibitors arrest infection by the protozoan parasite, Trypanosoma brucei. RNA interference studies implicated a cathepsin B-like protease, tbcatB, as a key inhibitor target. Utilizing parasites in which one of the two alleles of tbcatb has been deleted, the key role of this protease in degradation of endocytosed host proteins is delineated. TbcatB deficiency results in a decreased growth rate and dysmorphism of the flagellar pocket and the subjacent endocytic compartment. Western blot and microscopic analysis indicate that deficiency in tbcatB results in accumulation of both host and parasite proteins, including the lysosomal marker p67. A critical function for parasitism is the degradation of host transferrin, which is necessary for iron acquisition. Substrate specificity analysis of recombinant tbcatB revealed the optimal peptide cleavage sequences for the enzyme and these were confirmed experimentally using FRET-based substrates. Degradation of transferrin was validated by SDS-PAGE and the specific cleavage sites identified by N-terminal sequencing. Because even a modest deficiency in tbcatB is lethal for the parasite, tbcatB is a logical target for the development of new anti-trypanosomal chemotherapy. |
