  The study was conducted to find out the differences in serum copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), Zinc (Zn) and serum proteins in children of different degrees of malnutrition as a result of some disease. For this purpose a total of 100 children of school going age (4-12 years) having 85 malnourished and 15 apparently healthy were selected. Results revealed that serum Fe and Cu were significantly or relatively higher in malnourished than apparently healthy children irrespective of age, sex, socio-economic status or area of living. The levels of serum Zn, however, showed non-significant difference between malnourished and apparently healthy children. Serum levels of total proteins and globulins were lower (significantly or relatively) in malnourished children than control irrespective of age, sex, socio-economic status and area of living. The results of albumin were variable in these groups. The decrease in serum total proteins and globulins in male malnourished children were significant than male control while it were non-significant among females. The means of serum Cu, Zn and Fe in severely malnourished males and females were 48.61; 80.40; 50.00; 48.20; 227.15; 229.40g 100 ml ‾1, respectively. These in children of low and middle socio-economic status were 58.30; 90.00; 47.80; 58.67; 240.15; 148.00g 100 ml‾1, respectively. While in severely malnourished children of three age groups (4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 years) were 38.25; 81.00; 71.55; 50.50; 46.66; 49.77; 224.88; 155.00; 279.78 g 100 ml‾1 respectively. It can be concluded that serum Cu and Fe increases, while serum total proteins and globulins decreases in children of 4-12 years of age suffering from disease malnutrition.

  The research work was conducted to find out the differences in the serum of Cu, Fe, Zn and serum proteins in children of different degrees of malnutrition as a result of some disease. For this purpose a total of 100 children of pre-schooling age (0-4 years) having 85 malnourished and 15 apparently healthy were selected. Results revealed that diarrhoea, fever and malnutrition were the major diseases/ailments. Malnutrition was more prevalent in children of 12 and < 12 months of age, in males and in children of low socioeconomic status. All types of milk were more frequently offered to males and breast feeding was more frequently offered by mothers of uneducated class and undermatric. Levels of serum copper (Cu) and iron (Fe) were significantly (P<0.05) higher in malnourished children. Serum total proteins and globulins were significantly (P<0.05) lower in malnourished children of first degree in low socioeconomic group.

  A total of 200 patients were selected and were divided into five age groups (<40, 40-50, 51-60, 61-70 and > 70 Years), two socioeconomic status, i.e., low and middle class, and gender. Results revealed that patients admitted with heart attack, 63.5 % were having hypertension and there found an association between hypertension and family history of heart attack. The occurrence of heart attack in both hypertensive and non-hypertensive group was more in males than females and was higher in peoples of more than 41 years of age. Data also showed that occurrence of heart attack due to hypertension was high in people belonging to cities than villages. Data did not reveal difference between hypertensive and non-hypertensive patients with respect to tea intake and cigarette smoking. Serum cholesterol was higher (P<0.05) in hypertensive than non-hypertensive patients taking 6-10 cigarette day-1. Serum triglyceride levels were higher (P<0.05) in hypertensive than non-hypertensive males. Serum HDL was higher in patients used oil than those used ghee. Serum uric acid appeared to have relation with beef intake as the levels were higher in beef eaters in both hypertensive and non-hypertensive patients.

  Milk studies within two days post delivery in 90 randomly selected women of three socio-economic (low, middle and high) and three age groups (< 25, 26-32 and > 33 years) of Faisalabad, Pakistan, revealed an overall concentration of vitamin-A to be 718.85 RE/L. The milk vitamin-A showed non-significant difference between socio-economic groups, but was higher (P<0.01) in women of > 33 years (863.41 RE/L) of age. The mean specific gravity of milk was 1.0265±264 and the pH was 7.0876 and showed non-significant difference in socio-economic and age groups. The mean total milk proteins was 1.31±4 per cent and was higher (P<0.05) in women of 26-32 years of age, however, it showed non-significant difference between socio-economic groups. The mean milk lactose and fat was 5.76±5 and 2.89±3 per cent, respectively and showed non-significant difference between socio-economic and age groups.
