  A total of 123 sheep belonging to the Djallonke, Mossi, and Burkina-Sahel breeds, along with 41 Spanish Xalda sheep were genotyped for 27 microsatellites. The pair Djallonke-Mossi had the highest between breeds molecular coancestry. Admixture analysis informed on the parental role of the Burkina-Sahel and Djallonke breeds. The Mossi breed was a hybrid population nearer to the Djallonke breed. Only half of the Mossi individuals were correctly assigned to their breed. The Burkina-Sahel and Djallonke breeds can be considered ancestrally different genetic entities. Differentiation between the Djallonke and Mossi breeds may be due to introgression of Sahelian sheep.

  The aim of the present study was to investigate the toxicological effects of Sclerocarya birrea and Psidium guajava leaf extracts on mice and the antispasmodic effect on rat duodenum. The two plants extracts showed toxicological effects on mice in dose dependent manner. The antispasmodic effect was conducted as follow: In the first part of experiments, cumulative dose-response curve for Ach was obtained and then dose-response curves are repeated after addition of atropine and different doses of the extracts. In the second part, extracts were applied to the tissue after contraction with Ach. The extracts have exhibited an inhibitory effect on the dose-response curves induced by Ach on rat duodenum and significantly reduced the maximal response of Ach in a concentration-dependent manner. These results can partly justify the use of these plants in traditional medicine.

  The Myxosporean met in freshwater fishes of Burkina Faso, form all of them some whitish cysts on the fins for Myxobolus labeoi sp. n. and Myxobolus tingrelaensis sp. n. and on the branchial for Myxobolus heterotisi sp. n. and Myxobolus sourouensis sp. n. The spores of M. heterotisi sp. n. are ootid, they measure 2.13±0.46 out of 9.51± 0.45 μm and have their anterior extremity slightly contracted. Their pyriform polar capsule measure 6.41±0.41 out of 3.53±0.51 μm. The polar filament is rolled in 10 turns of spires. M. labeoi n. sp. Presents some lengthened spores of 16.43±0.50 out of 10.73±0.52 μm. The dissymetrical polar capsules measure 8.37±0.56 out of 6.53±0.68 μm and 1.57±0.17 out of 0.35±0.09 μm. On M. sourouensis sp. n., the spores measure 11.33±0.33 out of 8.84±0.72 μm. The polar capsules are ootid measuring 5.77±0.73 out of 2.32±0.46 μm. M. tingrelaensis sp. n. form some ootid spores of 11.6±0.62 out of 9.37±0.67 μm. The pyriform polar capsules are 4.80±0.55 out of 2.40±0.38 μm and have a small inter-capsular appendix.

  The present study was done to evaluate the hypotensive properties and the mechanisms action of the leaf aqueous extract in anaesthetized normotensive rats through a direct blood pressure measurement. The results showed that the extract caused a dose dependent fall in mean arterial pressure. Bilateral vagotomy did not abolished the hypotension induced by S. birrea. Pretreatment of rats with atropine, piperoxan and practolol did not abolished hypotension and suggests that muscarinic, α2 and β2 receptors are not involved in the induction of hypotension. These results suggest that the hypotensive effect of the extract is likely to be mediated through other factors like nitric oxide release or intracellular calcium decrease.
