Studies pertaining to the response of different nitrogen and phosphorus levels on the yield and quality of sugar; revealed that the significant interactive effect of 200 kg N along with 150 kg P2O5, ha-1 resulted in the highest cane yield of 76.64 t ha-1. Increasing levels of nitrogen improved number of millable canes, plant height, cane length and harvest index; whereas CCS remained unaffected. However, increasing the phosphorus levels tended to increase number of millable canes m-2, cane len cane diameter, harvest index as well as CCS percentage.

The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with factorial arrangement and three replications to evaluate the effect of different planting patterns viz. 60-cm spaced single rows, 70-cm spaced single rows, 30/90 cm spaced double row and 35/105-cm spaced double rows on yield and quality of tow maize hybrids viz. `Highcorn 11` and `Cargil 777`. Max-1000 grain weight (438.47 g), grain yield (9.6 t/ha), and stover yield (15.85 t/ha) was recorded when Highcorn 1 1 was sown at 60 cm spaced single rows. While maximum no of grains/cob (372.45) was recorded from `Cargil 777` sown at 30/90 cm apart double row.

The recognition of vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) is associated with history of an unrelenting search for the cause of the ancient hemorrhagic disease scurvy. Isolated in 1928, vitamin C is essential for the development and maintenance of connective tissues. It plays an important role in bone formation, wound healing and the maintenance of healthy gums. Vitamin C plays an important role in a number of metabolic functions including the activation of the B vitamin, folic acid, the conversion of cholesterol to bile acids and the conversion of the amino acid, tryptophan, to the neurotransmitter, serotonin. It is an antioxidant that protects body from free radicals` damages. It is used as therapeutic agent in many diseases and disorders. Vitamin C protects the immune system, reduces the severity of allergic reactions and helps fight off infections.
