  The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the addition of Organic Acid (OA) and Zeolite (ZE) alone or combined to the diet with microbial phytase contained low (3.9 g kg-1) and adequate (7.0 g kg-1) levels of Phosphorus (P) on bone mineral concentration. In this study, 480 one-day old broiler chicks were used. Chicks were assigned equally to 8 groups for the study carried out 6 replicates during 42 days. Basal ration contained 600 phytase enzyme unit (FTU kg-1) was formulated separately for starter and grower period. On day 21, tibia ash rate (p<0.001) and ash P levels (p<0.03) decreased in chicks fed low P ration. Similarly, the addition of ZE also decreased tibia ash rate on day 21 (p<0.01). The use of OA+ZE increased the ash P level on day 42 (p<0.05). Depending on P level of ration, the level of P in tibia ash samples decreased only on day 21 (p<0.03). On day 42, tibia P level was decreased and increased by the addition of ZE and OA+ZE, respectively (p<0.05). The addition of OA+ZE increased the bone Zn level on day 21. Cu level of bone decreased (p<0.05) depending on the low P content of the diet. Also, tibia Mn level increased (p<0.05) depending on the increase in the P level of diet at the end of the experiment. P level of litter material increased depending on the additives (p<0.02) and the P level of the diet (p<0.01).

  This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of addition of organic acid (OA), (SAL CURB®) and/or direct-feed microbial (DFM), (Cylactin®) LBC ME 10) to the rations of Kivircik male-yearling lambs on body weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion, some blood metabolites, and the levels of serum minerals. A group of sixty 1-year old male lambs of Kivircik Breed were used. The animals were divided in to 4 groups of 15 lambs each. The groups were assigned as control, organic acid, direct-feed microbial, and direct-feed microbial plus organic acid. A commercial direct-feed microbial product and organic acid mix were used as feed treatment supplements. The average daily gain means of the lambs supplemented with organic acid plus direct-feed microbials was found significantly higher than that of control group lambs. Significant differences in total proteins, cholesterol, total lipids, and serum Zn levels were detected among the groups. As a result, addition of organic acid and/or direct-feed microbial to the ration of yearling Kivircik male lambs resulted in an increased body weight gain (p<0.05). In addition, the dietary supplement of organic acid to the lambs caused a decrease in the serum cholesterol level while direct-feed microbial addition caused an increase in the serum Zn level (p< 0.05).

  The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the addition of organic acid (OA), zeolite (ZE), or both to broiler diets with microbial phytase containing low and adequate levels of phosphorus (P) on performance, some serum indices, and ileum pH values. For the study, 480 broiler chicks 1-day old were assigned equally to 8 groups, with 6 replicates (10 chicks per replicate) carried out over 42 days. A basal diet containing 600 FTU of phytase enzyme was formulated separately for the starter and grower periods. Experimental groups were divided into 2 main groups: low P [(0.39% P; basal diet (B), B+OA, B+ZE, and B+OA+ZE)] and adequate P [(0.70% P; basal diet (B), B+OA, B+ZE, and B+OA+ZE)]. The average body weight of the lo-P groups was significantly lower than that of the adequate-P groups. However, birds fed ZE and OA+ZE had increased body weights. Within the first 21 days of the study, the addition of ZE and OA+ZE to diets significantly decreased feed intake, and feed conversion rates improved depending on the P level and the OA+ZE addition. Serum P levels increased depending on the decrease in the level of P in the diet at 21 days, and the ALP concentration at day 42 was found to be statistically lower in the group fed an OA+ZE diet. Ileum pH values in the OA group were found to be lower than those in other groups at 42 days. These results proved that the addition of ZE and OA+ZE to the diet with microbial phytase containing low and adequate levels of P had positive effects on performance.
