  A two sets of test problems are tested upon, the first set consists of problems on ordinary differential equations and the second set consists of problems on delay differential equations. The problems are solved using the new RKD method and numerical comparisons are made when the same problems are reduced to a first order system of ODEs and first order system of DDEs and solved using the existing Runge-Kutta methods of order three and four. The RKD method is adapted to solve delay differential equations (DDEs). Stability polynomial of the method for linear special third order DDEs is given. The numerical results have clearly shown the advantage and the efficiency of the new method in terms of accuracy and computational time.

  The aim of this study was to establish the optimum operating parameters for biohydrogen production from food waste. Batch fermentation was conducted using a 150 mL serum vial incubated in anaerobic condition. Heat-treated Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) sludge was used as the seed culture for biohydrogen production. Biohydrogen production was performed at different temperatures (35, 40, 50, 55 and 60°C), initial pH (5, 6, 7 and 8) and various compositions of sludge to substrate (10:90, 20:80, 30:70 and 40:60% (v/v)). The highest biohydrogen yield was 593 mL H2 g-1 carbohydrate for the experiment conducted at a temperature of 55°C, initial pH 7 and composition of sludge to substrate at 30:70% (v/v). The biohydrogen production from the waste was accompanied by the production of organic acids and the ratio of Hac/HBu was 0.87. Treatment efficiency as shown by Total Carbohydrate (TC), Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Total Volatile Solids (TVS) reduction were 38, 25 and 18%, respectively.

  This research presented an experimental study on automatic classification of Malay proverbs using Naïve Bayesian algorithm. The automatic classification tasks were implemented using two Bayesian models, multinomial and multivariate Bernoulli model. Both models were calibrated using one thousand training and testing dataset which were classified into five categories: family, life, destiny, social and knowledge. Two types of testing have been conducted; testing on dataset with stop words and dataset with no stop words by using three cases of Malay proverbs, i.e., proverb alone, proverb with meaning and proverb with the meaning and example sentences. The intuition was that, since proverbs were commonly short statement, the inclusion of its meaning and associated used in sentences could improve the accuracy of classification. The results showed that a maximum of 72.2 and 68.2% of accuracy have been achieved respectively by the Multinomial model and the Multivariate Bernoulli for the dataset with no stop words using proverb with the meaning and example sentences. This experiment has indicated the capability of the Naïve Bayesian algorithm in performing proverbs classification particularly with the inclusion of meaning and example usage of such proverbs.

  The heavy metals or trace elements play vital role in the metabolic pathways during the growth and development of plants, when available in adequate concentration. Seasonal fruits and vegetables play a significant role in human nutrition. Food production and its safety is an important aspect of the measure of any nation’s growing economy and it is a popular trend to find out the trace metal contents of vegetables and fruits of local markets throughout the world but still data is lacking in developing countries like Pakistan. The trace metals Co, Zn, K, Na, Fe, Mn, Ca, Mg, Cu, Ni were analyzed in 15 vegetables and fruits (okra, guava, banana, potato, chili paper, onion, tomato, mint, mango, ginger, brinjal, bitter gourd, spinach, carrot) available in the markets of Hyderabad city. Vegetables and fruits selected for the study are commonly consumed by all income groups of Hyderabad city. Mineral contents were determined using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS). Co was analyzed 0.1038-0.126 mg/100 gm, Zn was 0.44-0.55 mg/100 gm, K 2.3-38.5 mg/100 gm, Na was 1.5-2. Mn was 0.0526-0.1435 mg/100 gm, Ca 0.3-3.35 mg/100 gm, Mg 1.191-32.0 mg/100 gm while Cu 0.1-1.9 mg/100 gm and Ni 0.05-0.18 mg/100 gm where as Fe was found 1.5-29.0 mg/100 gm among all selected vegetables and fruits.
