  The experiments were conducted aiming to evaluate the effect of three estrus synchronization protocols viz. Ovsynch, CIDR and CO-Synch+CIDR on LH Peak, Plasma P4 and follicular dynamics in a fixedtime AI (FTAI) in locally adopted non-descript indigenous cows. The blood samples were collected at 2 h intervals, starting at 12-108 h from post PGF2α to determine the LH surge and for P4 on day 0, 4, 7, 11 and then once weekly for 8 weeks of estrus synchronization and FTAI. A better synchrononyof LH peak was observed in Ovsynch group (48.40±0.40 h post PGF) compared to CIDR (71.67±9.74 h) and CO-Synch+CIDR (54.86±4.71 h) protocols. The mean follicular diameter, daily growth rate and ovulation rate did not differ (p>0.05) among three groups. The interval between PGF and ovulation was lower (p>0.05) in Ovsynch group when compared to CIDR and CO-Synch+CIDR groups. The conception rate at first service (80%) in Ovsynch group was significantly higher (p<0.05) compared to CIDR and CO-Synch+CIDR groups. It is concluded that the time of LH peak in synchronized estrus of non-descript indigenous cows is simsilar to taht in Bos Tauruscows and Ovsynch protocol induced the best synchrony of pre-ovulatory LH surge and ovulation.

  A laboratory experiment was conducted to study the effect of incubation period on the phosphorus adsorption by the Pindorian, Satghrah, Shandara, Wazirabad, Balkassar, Hafizabad and Missa soil series of Pakistan. Five levels of P (50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 μg P/g of soil) were added to these samples and incubated for 1, 7 and 15 days. Results showed that the amount of adsorbed P increased by increasing the incubation period from 1 to 15 days. The highest adsorption was found after 15 days incubation period and lowest P was adsorbed after incubation period of one day in all the soils and each level of P application.

  Cenchrus ciliaris a palatable and nutritious grass is a warm season grass. Arid and semi-arid rangeland are reseeded with Cenchrus ciliaris to enhance productivity, prolong grazing season and increase carrying capacity. A two ha land area was reseeded with Cenchrus ciliarisat target area Jamrud in June 1980, under barani conditions. Generally shoot biomass is determined at the end of growing season after seed maturity stage. Root shoot and root biomass of Cenchrus ciliarishas not estimated/determined at the end of spring season. The different growing season (spring summer) is lacking. Estimation of shoot and root biomass of Cenchrus ciliaris plant in two growing different seasons is essential in grazing management studies. At the beginnings of spring season reserve carbohydrates are used for the production of new shoots. The shoot biomass at the end of spring season is generally less compared to the end of summer season. The shoot and root biomass estimating of Cenchrus ciliaris plant at the end of two different growing season is required to devise the grazing management programme. This study is proposed to quantify the shoot and root biomass of Cenchrus ciliaris plant at the end of spring and summer growing seasons.
