  To investigate the Avain leukosis virus infection status in China native chicken flocks, 2530 serum samples from 26 kinds of China native chickens were collected and detected using the Avian Leukosis Virus Antibody Test kit (ALV-A/B) and Avian Leukosis Virus Antibody Test kit-Subgroup J (ALV-J). The results showed that among 2530 sera samples 118 samples were positive for ALV-A/B, 332 samples were positive for ALV-J and 35 samples were positive for both ALV-A/B and ALV-J. The positive rate for ALV-A/B, ALV-J and their co-infection was 0-16.67, 0-59.60 and 0-5.05%, respectively. This investigation suggests that the infection of ALV-A/B, ALV-J and their co-infection do exist or even very popular in some native chickens flocks in China and the prevention of ALV should be given more attention.

  To investigate the co-infection status of Reticuloendotheliosis Virus (REV) with Chicken Anemia Virus (CAV) in chicken flocks of live poultry market, 370 spleen samples from six 817 broiler chicken flocks were collected and it’s DNA was detected by nucleic acid hybridization with the REV-specific and CAV-specific probes. Out of 370, 20 samples could be detected by REV probe and 87 samples detected by CAV probe. The positive rate of co-infection of REV with CAV was 3.2%. These results indicated that co-infection of REV and CAV also existed in healthy broiler chicken flocks in the live poultry market. A subclinical infection of REV and CAV might be an important channel for cross-infection in different chicken flocks.

  Marek’s Disease Virus (MDV) Chinese strain GX0101 was the first reported recombinant MDV field strain with one Reticuloendotheliosis Virus (REV) Long Terminal Repeat (LTR) insert. REV LTR in the GX0101 genome increased the potential for horizontal transmission. REV LTR fragment has the biggest impact on SORF2 gene. Researchers detected the influence of SORF2 gene deletion on its horizontal transmission ability by real time PCR. The result shows that GX0101ΔSorf2 possesses similar replication ability with bac-GX0101 no mater on the level of lymphocyte or feather follicle. Although, researchers can detect MDV positive in feather follicles of sentinel in contact chickens at age 10 in both groups respectively, the number of SPF chickens infected with bac-GX0101 by contact is higher than the number of GX0101ΔSorf2 infection group. Therefore, SORF2 gene has certain effect on the horizontal transmission ability of the virus.

  To investigate the Reticuloendotheliosis virus infection status in large-scale breeder chicken farms of China, 563 serum samples from 4 great-grandparents breeder farms, 6557 serum samples from 8 grandparents breeder farms, 312 serum samples from parents breeder farms, totally 7432 serum samples were collected and examined using the Reticuloendotheliosis Virus Antibody Test kit. The results showed that REV-antibody positive rates of great-grandparents breeder flocks, grandparent breeder flocks and parents breeder flocks were 0-31, 0-47 and 4.23-42.50%, respectively. REV-antibody positive rate has close relationship with incidence of REV infection history and tumor complaints. This study suggests that REV infection is very common in China large-scale breeder chicken farms and the prevention of REV should be given more attention this is the largest scale serological survey for breeder chickens in China so far.
