  The effect of Bacillus additive on immunity and antioxidant activities of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) was studied in this experiment. Animals of the control group were fed the basal diet and those of treatment group were fed the basal diet augmented with Bacillus additive at a dose of 105 Colony Forming Units per gram (CFU g-1) feed. Data showed that serum immunity parameters including IgM, complement C3 and Alkaline Phosphatase (AKP) significantly increased (p<0.05) by 30.77, 34.62 and 107.79% in the treatment group. However, there was no significant difference in serum total protein, globulin, albumin, A/G ratio, Lysozyme (LZM), Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (GOT) and Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (GPT) activities. Serum antioxidant parameters such as serum Glutathione (GSH), Total Antioxidant Capacity (T-AOC), Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities significantly (p<0.05) enhanced by 32.76, 41.75, 20.06 and 11.30%, respectively and hepatopancreatic antioxidant parameters including SOD activity and GSH increased significantly (p<0.05) by 33.83 and 25.86%. In addition, GSH-Px and Malondialdehyde (MDA) content in hepatopancreatic decreased by 20.69% (p<0.05) and 25.39% (p<0.05) individually and the anti-superoxide anion (anti-O2¯) activity in hepatopancreatic decreased by 32.21% (p<0.05) in the treatment group. These results indicate that the Bacillus addtive can promote the immunity and antioxidant function of grass carp.
