This study was designed to investigate the influence of Gallid
herpesvirus 2 Marek's Disease challenge virus and different inoculated routes
of attenuated vaccine virus CVI988/Rispens on immune adhesion of erythrocytes
in chickens. One day old chicks were randomly divided into a control group (C),
an experimental group challenged with Jing-1 challenge strain (V), a second
and third experimental group individually injected intra-abdominally (IA) or
subcutaneously (SC) with vaccine strain, CVI988/Rispens. The erythrocyte immune
adhesion was evaluated with yeast rosette-forming tests of red blood cell complement
receptor type 1 (RBC-CR1) and red blood cell immune complex (RBC-IC). It was
found that chickens from group V had fewer erythrocytes. During this time, the
rate of RBC-IC rosette formation was higher in group V except on days 3 and
20. While the rate of RBC-CR1 rosette formation was lower in group V except
on the 26th day when the number of RBC-CR1 rosettes was extremely higher. The
rate of RBC-CR1 rosette formation and RBCs count was higher in group IA than
that of SC. The results suggest that challenge virus lead to immune suppression,
a decline in the immune adhesion of RBCs followed by a rebound during the later
stages of infection; effects on RBC immunity were increased after inoculate
attenuated vaccines strains; IA vaccination route may enhance the immune adhesion
of RBCs comparing with SC route; and an improvement in the RBC immunity adhesion
during the later stages of infection may have resulted from a compensatory immune
response to immune organ atrophy and the decrease of RBCs. |

PCR-SSCP and DNA sequencing was employed to analyze polymorphisms
of the mitochondrial coding gene including ND1-6, ND4L, COX 1-3, ATP6 and ATP8
in Chinese Beijing duck and analyze their effects on carcass traits in Beijing
duck. The results showed that 4 SNPs (G9259A, T9269C, G9394A and A9601G) were
detected in ATP6 gene and 1 SNP (G9902A) was detected in COX 3 gene. The G9902A
locus was a nonsynonymous which result in the varation of the coding amino acid
(Arg56Gln). The COX 3 locus showed three genotypes (c. 9902GG, c. 9902GA and
c. 9902AA) and the frequencies were 0.12, 0.23 and 0.6+5, respectively. The
COX 3 locus was significantly associated with carcass traits of Beijing duck
(p<0.05). |

This study was intended to assess effects of dietary vitamin
C supplementation on growth performance, meat quality, immune function as well
as anti-oxidative capacity of broilers. A total of 240, 1 day old Avian broiler
chicks divided randomly into three treatments, each of which was composed of
eight replicates with ten birds and birds fed a corn-soybean meal basal diet
supplemented with 0, 150, 300 mg kg-1 vitamin C, respectively. Results
showed that dietary vitamin C addition could significantly increased average
daily weight gain and feed intake of the broilers (p<0.05) but did not have
significant effects on their feed to gain ratio; compared with the control treatment,
dietary vitamin C addition at 300 mg kg-1 could significantly increased
the pectoral muscle percentages, abdominal fat percentages and liver weight
ratio of broilers (p<0.05). Dietary vitamin C additions could significantly
increase pectoral muscle b* and leg muscle L* of the broilers and that significantly
improved the water holding capacity and tenderness of their leg muscles (p<0.05).
The thymus index, bursa of Fabricius index, Newcastle disease antibody level
of broilers were much higher where vitamin C was added at 300 mg kg-1
than in the control treatment indicating that immunity of broilers got effectively
improved (p<0.05). Dietary vitamin C addition at 300 mg kg-1 significantly
increased the vitamin C content in blood serum and pectoral muscles (p<0.05),
also superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activities and total anti-oxidative
capacity in blood serum significantly increased (p<0.05), so that dietary
vitamin C addition was helpful to eliminating free radicals and raising anti-oxidative
capacities of broilers. Dietary vitamin C addition at 300 mg kg-1
significantly slowed down lipid per-oxidation and color variation of pectoral
muscles while the muscles were refrigerated at 4°C, so that it took effect
along with anti-oxidative enzymes to inhibit oxidation-caused meat quality deterioration,
stabilize meat colors and prolong meat shelf life. Results of the present study
indicated that dietary vitamin C addition at 150 mg kg-1 performed
better in improving growth performances and immune functions of broilers and
dietary vitamin C addition at 300 mg kg-1 performed better in improving
body and muscle anti-oxidative capacity, reducing lipid per-oxidation in meat
storage and prolonging meat shelf life. |

Lifetime prediction based on multi-performance parameters is a problem in the prediction field, to solve this problem and improve prediction accuracy, Dempster-Shafer theory is applied in this study. Firstly the multi-performance parameters information is taken as the evidences in D-S theory and a lifetime prediction method based on these is proposed. For the values of the performance parameters information are different, a lifetime prediction method with weighting is proposed. Finally, a microwave component is taken as an example to explain the engineering application of the method proposed in this study. |
