Previous studies have shown that histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACis) can kill cancer cells. In addition, HDACis can induce mitotic catastrophe in cancer cells due to insufficient localization of chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) to the centromere. However, the mechanisms behind these phenomena remain unclear. In this study, we found that a HDACi, FK228, affected multiple epigenetic modification characteristics of the centromere, including enhanced acetylation of histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9), decreased trimethylation of H3K9, and decreased phosphorylation of histone H3 serine 10 (H3S10) and centromere protein A (CENP-A). These epigenetic changes implied that H3K9 hyperacetylation inhibits the CPC recruitment, induces impaired centromere assembly and function, and eventually leads to aberrant mitosis. These data suggested that hypoacetylation of histone in the pericentromere is the most important landmark for recruiting CPC and leading to the mitotic catastrophe in HDACi-induced killing of cancer cells.

  Immunohistochemical synovial tissue biomarkers are used increasingly to classify arthropathies, study their pathogenesis, and to measure disease activity in clinical trials. We have used receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis to quantify the discriminatory abilities of markers for common inflammatory cells (subintimal CD15, CD68, CD3, CD20, CD38, and lining CD68), proliferating cells (Ki-67) and blood vessels (von Willebrand factor, vWF) among inflammatory (chronic septic arthritis, early arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA)) and degenerative arthropathies (osteoarthritis (OA) and orthopedic arthropathies) and normal synovium. Six of the eight markers distinguished accurately between RA and the degenerative arthropathies (area under the curve (AUC) 0.91–0.97), whereas subintimal CD68 (AUC 0.92) and Ki-67 (AUC 0.87) distinguished best between OA and normal synovium. Fold differences in mean expression correlated only modestly with AUCs (r2 = 0.44). Multicategory ROC analysis ranked Ki-67, subintimal CD68, and CD15 as discriminating best among all six sample groups, and thus identified them as the most broadly applicable markers.

Aim

To determine the relationship between HbA1c and mean blood glucose concentrations by using HbA1c-mean blood glucose formulae for people on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.

Methods

A total of 305 people on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, including 13 people with Type 1 diabetes mellitus, 161 people with Type 2 diabetes mellitus and 131 people without diabetes, from a single peritoneal dialysis centre at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, were enrolled between January 2006 and June 2011. Serum HbA1c concentration was measured quarterly and other laboratory variables, including blood glucose, were measured every month. The formulae were established using regression analysis and adjusted for other factors. The estimated blood glucose level calculated using our formulae was compared with that using previous formulae namely the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial and A1c-Derived Average Glucose formulae for people not on dialysis and the Hoshino formula for people on haemodialysis.

Results

The HbA1c-mean blood glucose formulae obtained by linear regression analysis were: 1) mBGmmol/l = 0.107 x HbA1c(mmol/mol) + 1.764 [adjusted R2 (inline image)  = 0.494]; 2) mBGmmol/l = 0.101 x HbA1c (mmol/mol) − 0.001 x Cr (μmol/l) + 2.850 (inline image = 0.507); 3) mBGmmol/l = 0.102 x HbA1c (mmol/mol) − 0.095 x Alb (g/l) + 5.394 (inline image = 0.521); and 4) mBGmmol/l  = 0.099 x HbA1c (mmol/mol) − 0.001 x Cr (μmol/l)−0.084 x Alb (g/l) + 5.754 (inline image = 0.526), where mBG is mean blood glucose, Cr is serum creatinine and Alb is serum albumin. These new formulae performed as well as or better than previous formulae.

Conclusions

The relationship between HbA1c and mean blood glucose for people on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis differs from that for people not on dialysis or for those on haemodialysis. Clinicians and patients can determine glycaemic control targets by applying our formulae.

  This research analysis mechanism of multi-wheel corresponding driven and steady driven of lunar rover with 6 wheels and rocker bogie based on its characterization of mechanical configuration and based on principle of traditional multi-wheels driven, using the CAN bus, we construct a distributed motion control network as a kernel of whole control system of rover. The bus network motion control unit adopts uniform interface, uniform hardware body and this unit has characteristics of modularization, easy to reconfiguration and high integration. The distributed motion control system based on this unit can decrease the complexity of wiring of robot and improve flexibility of programming of main computer of rover. Using wheel operation modes, motion performance of rover is analyzed in 3 different driving modes on smooth and rough terrain. According to the mechanical configuration of rover, operations modes of wheel and principle of speed matching of wheels, we presents a adaptive coordinated control algorithm of multi-wheels independent driven on rough terrain. Through the experiments of obstacle overcoming, climbing, moving on cross-hill in soft soil and spot turning, it shows this rover has good transportation performance, the distributed motion control system base CAN bus has a good performance and high reliability and the adaptive coordinated control algorithm is validity.

  This study considered a model of an Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm for the general combinatorial optimization problem. The model proved that it can converge to one of the optima if only this optimum is allowed to update the pheromone model and that it can not converge to any of the optima if two or more optima are allowed. The iteration complexity of the model can be computed easily. And then a lower bound of time complexity of a real ACO algorithm for the general combinatorial optimization problem can be obtained.

  Presently, stereo matching algorithms are almost in purpose of pursuing high matching precision, the whole time spent in algorithms are too long. In this study, we proposed a stereo matching algorithm based on aligning genomic sequence, according to the comparability on the theory of aligning genomic sequences and stereo matching algorithm. Firstly, pixels in each epipolar on stereo image were transformed into the form of genomic sequences and then used calculation method of getting score matrix by comparison of genomic sequence to establish two-dimensional disparity space images. At last, we finally get disparity using searching optimization strategy in aligning genomic sequences to do global optimization. The experimental results show that the whole time of this method is greatly reduced and matching quality is still good.

  The genetic variability and genetic relationship of the fifteen sheep breeds were studied. The genotypes of 14 indigenous Chinese sheep breeds and one crossbreed of wild sheep were investigated using 13 microsatellite DNA markers recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Society of Animal Genetics (ISAG) through PCR. The allele frequency, heterozygosity and Genetic Differentiation Index (Fst) were computed to estimate the genetic variation of each population. To determine the genetic relationships among the breeds, phylogenetic trees were constructed based on Nei’s genetic distance using the unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic mean and neighbor-joining method. A total of 15 breeds were clustered into three groups. The first group included Altay sheep and Duolang sheep, the second group was very large and complicated, the third group was a Kazark sheep. The thirteen microsatellite loci were effective markers for the analysis of genetic relationship among sheep breeds. In addition, genetic distance among groups is not according with their geographic distribution and groups or breeds with low production performance can easily impacted by breeds with better production performance. As for the results, it may be result from applying on artificial insemination and extension of commercial cross breeding technique in sheep production system recent years in China.
