Study finds that a sample of 21 dairy farmers located in Sanliurfa Province, Turkey are producing at a low level of production efficiency. Efficiency ranges from 24-99% with the average being 56%. The 99% of the variation in output among the sampled farmers is due to differences in their production efficiency. If a farmer with average efficiency improved efficiency to that of the most efficient farmer in the sample then the average dairy farmer could realize an 43% cost saving. Age and contact with extension officer have positive impacat on dairy production efficiency. However, they are not significant.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of two temperature regimens on the body weight gain, feed intake and revenue. This information is needed to select most profitable conditions for broiler production. The experiment began when the chicks were 21 days old and fed during the 21 days of experiment. The experiment consisted of male and female birds per temperature, repeated 12 times with 2 broilers per replicate. Room temperatures were set at 21±2 and 30±2°C by controlling two air conditioners (White Westinghouse). Birds were weighed and for each cage 2 male and 2 female birds were placed (50x50x50 cm). The data were analyzed statistically and shows that temperature has significant (p<0.001) effect on body weight gain, feed intake and revenue. Temperature have depressed body weight gain, feed intake and revenue. Revenue loss experienced malexfemale, male and female were 4.23, 2.3 and 6.2%, respectively.

This study finds that a sample of 75 laying hens farmers located in Afyon Province, Turkey, exhibit inputs allocation and utilization are not efficient. Efficiency ranges from 45-97% with the average being 94%. The 97% of the variation in egg production among the sampled farmers is due to differences in their production efficiency. The returns to scale of the poultry egg production is found to be positive and more than unity implying that inputs allocation and utilization are not efficient. Three statistically significant factors associated with the variation in production efficiency are identified: feding, drug and veterinary service and electricity inputs.

An area yield insurance program is investigated for wheat produced in Konya Province, Turkey. To compute premium, exponential smoothing is used to establish mean expected yield from historical data. Premiums vary by county and coverage level as expected. At the 80% coverage level, for example, they range from zero for Beysehir and Karaty counties to 18.3 kg da-1 for Altintekin counties. No yield shortfall exceeded 20% of expected county yield during a year over the 1982 through 2004 observation period for Beysehir and Karaty counties. The differences between the highest and lowest expected premium rate for examined counties are 17.8, 9.9 and 18.8 kg da-1 for the 90, 00 and 110% coverage levels, respectively.
