  This study was based on biodisposition kinetics of ofloxacin in Pakistani healthy female volunteers after oral administration. Ten healthy female volunteers were included in this study. The blood samples of each volunteer were collected after oral administration of ofloxacin. The concentration of ofloxacin in blood samples was measured by microbiological assay. The mean (SE) values of time to peak (tmax), peak concentration (Cmax), absorption half life (t1/2α), absorption rate constant (ka), elimination half life (t1/2), elimination rate constant (K10β), were 1.012 ± 0.176 h, 0.907 ± 0.126 μg ml-1, 0.516? 0.093h, 13.593?2.936L h-1, 2.996 ± 0.567h and 0.291 ± 0.693 L h-1 respectively. The mean (SE) values for area under curve (AUC), clearance (CL), volume of distribution (Vd) and mean resident time (MRT) were 4.358 ± 0.771 h.mg-1 1itter, 53.470 ± 11.068 l h-1, 214.41?49.127 litter and 5.030 ± 0.705 h respectively. Values of parameters like, volume of distribution, total body clearance and absorption rate constant were higher, while elimination half life, AUC, Cmax, and tmax were lower in local population as compared with foreign studies. There was no influence of body surface area on total body clearance of ofloxacin (R2=0.0581). There was an increase in body clearance of ofloxacin (R2=0.2236) and area under curve (AUC) for ofloxacin (R2=0.258) with increasing body surface are of volunteers. Therefore body surface area of volunteers may slightly influence the total body clearance and area under curve for ofloxacin. These gender-related differences mainly low body weight and surface area in females may warrant dosage adjustments.

  Brevibacterium flavum maintained at 7.0 pH level and at 37 °C temperature, gives maximum production of lysine. When the organism was given UV shocks for 30 minutes, gave the lysine in maximum quality. Water substrate ratio, addition of molasses, addition of corn steep liquor were optimized. At 40% water substrate ratio, addition of 4% corn steep liquor and 4% molasses bacteria was most efficient in the production of lysine. The biomass thus produced contained 32.8% crude protein, 20.87% true protein, 34% ash and 1.1% fat contents on the basis of dry matter. There was no increase or decrease in ether extract and crude fiber. The biomass produced was analyzed by three-enzyme method. Its digestibility was 85.69% in single cell protein biomass. Amino acid profile showed that lysine production was 21.48mg/g on the basis of protein.

  The objective of the study was to evaluate the renal clearance of levofloxacin and that of the endogenous creatinine, following a single oral dose of 500 mg of levofloxacin to eight healthy male volunteers. After an over night fasting control and after drug administration blood and urine samples were collected at 0,30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 0, 45 ,75, 105, 135 ,160 minutes time intervals, respectively. The samples were assayed for endogenous creatinine spectrophotometrically and levofloxacin by microbiological assay. Mean± SE values for the blood and urine pH were 7.548 ± 0.013 and 5.85 ± 0.0039, respectively. The average±SE value for diuresis was 0.018± 0.0056ml min-1 kg-1. The average± SE values for renal clearance of endogenous creatinine and levofloxacin were 0.519±0.068 and 0.778±0.110ml min-1 kg-1. The study performed in summer showed that with an increase in urine flow the renal clearance of levofloxacin also increase, and statistically there is non-significant positive correlation (R2=0.647) between these two parameters. These variations in results supporting the findings that there is a need to evaluate the imported drugs under indigenous conditions due to environmental difference, for getting optimal therapeutic results.

  Doxycycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria. Renal clearance of the drug and that of endogenous creatinine was determined by oral administration of 2 H 100 mg doxycycline in healthy male volunteers. Before drug administration control samples and after drug administration blood and urine samples were collected, at predetermined time periods. The samples were assayed for endogenous creatinine by spectrophotometric methods and doxycycline by microbiological assay. Mean± SE values for the blood and urine pH mean were 7.81 ± 0.030 and 6.13 ± 0.187, respectively. The rate of urine flow (diuresis) was 0.056 ± 0.011 ml/min/kg and creatinine was cleared at rate of 1.109 ± 0.386 ml/min/kg of body weight. Average ± SE value for doxycycline clearance was 0.49 ± 0.056 ml/min/kg and mean ± SE value for clearance ratio was 1.046 ± 0.366. A significant positive correlation between diuresis and renal clearance of doxycycline indicate the back diffusion or reabsorption of the drug.

  Following an oral dose of 250 mg of clarithromycin to 14 healthy adult male volunteers, renal clearance and urinary excretion of the drug and that of endogenous creatinine were determined. Before drug administration control samples and after drug administration blood and urine samples were collected, at predetermined time periods. The plasma and urine samples were assayed for endogenous creatinine by spectrophotometric methods and clarithromycin by microbiological assay. Mean ± SE values for the blood and urine pH mean were 7.9±0.08 and 5.7±0.17 respectively. The rate of urine flow (diuresis) was 0.019±0.003 ml/min/kg and creatinine was cleared at rate of 1.95±0.164 ml/min/kg of body weight. Average±SE value for clarithromycin clearance was 0.54±0.08ml/min/kg and mean±SE value for clearance ratio was 0.31±0.061. Cumulative amount of dose excreted until 24 hrs. showed an average value 6.1±0.76 percent. A significant positive correlation between diuresis and renal clearance of clarithromycin indicate the back diffusion or reabsorption of the drug.

  The biodisposition kinetin and urinary excretion of kanamycin was investigated in eight normal adult female goats of beetle breed after intravenous close of 5 mg/kg to each gear. After single intravenous administration of kanamycin. in goats, the distribution half-life and biological hall-life had average of 8.1±0.893 min and 2.87±0.12 hrs and ranged between 4.28 to 11.61minutes and 2.44 to 3.37 hrs respectively. The aapparent volume of distribution of kanamycin in goat calculated by area method was 584.6±34.21 mg/kg. The rate constants for Lananivein transfer across compartment 1 to 2, K12 and 2 to 1, K21 were 1.846±0.316 hr–1 and 3.800±0.434 hr and ranged between 1.016 to 3.713 hr–1 and 2.45 to 5.77 hr–1, respectively. Total body clearance of kanarnycin calculated on per kg basis ranged 1.79 to 3.59 ml/min/kg with an average value 2.389±0.194 ml/min/kg, Cumulative urinary excretion as percent of total does excreated at 12 hours was 10.266±1.233. The studies showed variation in pharmacokinetic behaviour of kanamycia in indigenous goats as compared to earlier studies.
