  The aim of the study was to determine the effects of two different doses of ascorbic acid (300 and 800 mg kg-1). They were evaluated on sperm quality of rainbow trout. The results of study showed that 800 mg kg-1 ascorbic acid supplemented diet was affected sperm quality positively such as sperm concentration, spermatocrit, sperm motility and fertilizing capacity of sperm. However, feeding with the diet supplemented with 300 mg kg-1 ascorbic acid increased sperm motility but did not significantly affect according to control group.

  This study evaluated the effects of three types of probiotics, two bacteria and one yeast on growth performance in common carp. Three diets were formulated containing the optimum protein level (40%) for common carp fry; one supplemented at 0.1% with a bacterial mixture containing Streptococcus faecium and Lactobacillus acidophilus; a 2nd supplemented at 0.1% with the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisae and 3rd a control diet without supplements. Two additional diets were formulated to contain 27% protein to serve as a stress factor and were supplemented at 0.1% with either the bacterial probiotic mix or the yeast. The diets were fed for 9 weeks to common carp fry stocked in 20 L tanks at two densities; a high density of 20 fry tank•1 as a stress factor and a low density of 10 fry tank•1. Results indicate that the fry fed with diets with a probiotics supplement exhibited greater growth than those fed with the control diet. Of the four probiotic treatments, the 40% protein diet supplemented with yeast produced the best growth performance and feed efficiency, suggesting that yeast is an appropriate growth stimulating additive in common carp cultivation.

  In this study, Artemia urmiana was used as a vector to carry probiotic Baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) to digestive tract of Persian Sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) larvae. The yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) under the commercial title of Thepax was prepared from Doxal Co.-Italy and was used for bioencapsulation of Artemia urmiana. This experiment was conducted in a completely random design. Artemia urmiana with three concentrations of Baker's yeast, 5, 5.30 and 5.48 Log cfu mL-1 in suspension of broth for 10 h was bioencapsulated and was fed by Persian Sturgeon larvae. The Persian Sturgeon larvae were fed on the base of the 30% of their body weight for 6 times a day. The control treatment were fed on unbioencapsulated Artemia urmiana. The results indicated that the Saccharomyces cerevisiae could influence growth and feeding parameters in Persian Sturgeon larvae. The final body weight and Specific Growth Rate (SGR) in experimental treatments had significant difference in comparison with control treatment (p<0.05). Food Convertion Efficiency (FCE) was increased significantly. The Baker’s yeast had significant positive effects on Conversion Efficiency Ratio (CER), Thermal Growth Coefficient (TGC), Velocity of growth body Weight (VW%) and Velocity of growth body Length (VL%) in comparison with control treatment (p<0.05). Also, the Relative Food Intake (RFI) significantly decreased (p<0.05) while crude protein and energy significantly increased (p<0.05). The maximum of Lpid Productive Value (LPV) and Protein Productive Value (PPV) were obtained in treatment of T2 (p<0.05). This study showed that S. cerevisiae had high efficiency in feeding parameters and growth performance of Acipenser persicus larvae.

  Lctoferrin (LF) is an iron-binding glycoprotein plays an important role in the non-specific immune system in fish and mammals. Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) was fed bovine LF supplemented diets (0, 200, 400 and 600 mg kg-1 diet) for 4 weeks. The effect of dietary LF on immune function and resistance to Aeromonas hydrophilla challenge was determined. The level of LF in diet had a significant force on survival following A. hydrophilla challenge with fish fed the 600 mg kg-1 LF diet having significantly superior survival than control fish. There was increase in activity of non-specific and specific immune parameters (lymphocytes count, macrophage oxidative burst, serum lysozyme and bactericidal activities against A. hydrophilla) with addition of LF to diets. While there was not a corresponding increase in activity of total leukocytic count and neutrophil adhesion test. The increased resistance to A. hydrophilla with increasing dietary concentration of LF seemed to correspond with an enhancement of non-specific immune functions. In conclusion, dietary LF supplementation could be enhances the non-specific immunity and diseases resistance in common carp (Cyprinus carpio).
