Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients have increased risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD), which is partly attributable to dyslipidemia. Although statins are the recommended therapeutic strategy, fenofibrate (FFB)-known to decrease TG levels, increase HDL-C, and shift the distribution of LDL subfractions towards larger, less atherogenic particles-has been recommended as adjuvant therapy with statins.
