  Keeping the wind power constant is essential for the large-scale integration of wind power into electric power system. In this study, we classify the wind power fluctuation and propose a method of suppressing the fluctuant wind power by an Active-Parallel Hybrid Energy Storage System (APHESS). The APHESS consists of a battery, a supercapacitor and two charge-discharge controllers. By designing the configuration logically, the APHESS obtains the enhanced energy storage performance and the low investment cost. In order to realize the wind power suppression, the method of controlling the APHESS to exchange power precisely with the wind power system is developed in this study. For the purpose of making the battery and supercapacitor balance, respectively different kinds of fluctuation classified in this study, the power within APHESS is allocated reasonably between the battery and the supercapacitor. By the method proposed in this study, the fluctuant wind power can be balanced effectively and the service life of energy storage system can be prolonged.

  This study presents a novel approach for the prediction and detection of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks by using EAQPSO-SVM algorithm which is implemented through combining the improved Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization (QPSO) algorithm with Support Vector Machine (SVM) theory. In order to improve the global searching performance of the classical QPSO algorithm for avoiding falling into local extreme value point, the Evolution Speed Factor (ESF) and Aggregation Degree Factor (ADF) were introduced in the EAQPSO-SVM algorithm to establish a binary relation function for correcting the self-adaptive expansion-contraction coefficient. Furthermore, a hybrid entropies strategy is proposed to identify the potential DDoS attacks by comparing the mean value entropy with average alarm threshold. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method remarkably improves the abilities of prediction and detection of DDoS attacks. Meanwhile, a novel framework of performance evaluation further proves that the proposed algorithm has better generalization ability and superior performance in terms of less algorithm execution time, average iterations, average relative variance and root mean square error.

  The energy storage technique is one of the most effective means for the real-time wind power regulation to enhance the stability of wind power. Firstly, this study discussed the operation mode of energy storage system in the course of real-time wind power balance. Also, it was proposed that the energy storage system applied into the real-time wind power regulation should be of the properties of high power density, high energy density and long cycle life. From the standpoint of practical engineering, this study carried out a comparative analysis on the energy storage properties of different energy storage elements. Furthermore, the research status and engineering development of each energy storage element were introduced. In view of the deficiency of single energy storage pattern, the composition of hybrid energy storage system was described. According to the operation requirement for balancing the fluctuant wind power in real-time, a comparative research on the topology of battery-supercapacitor energy storage system was carried out. This study hopes to supply new hints for enhancing the power controllability of wind farm.

  Background and Objective: Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is a disease of excessive lipid accumulation which sensitizes the liver cells and leads to hepatic insulin resistance, inflammation and oxidative stress. This study was aimed to evaluate the hepato-protective effect of Byrsonima sericea extract (BSE) against High fat emulsion diet (HFED) induced NAFLD in rats. Materials and Methods: The NAFLD was induced by administration of HFED (10 mL kg–1/p.o.), along with micro dose of carbon tetra chloride (CCl4) (0.5 mL kg–1, i.p.). The experiment includes 5 groups with 6 rats in each group. Group 1 was normal control, Group 2 was negative control, where rats received HFED (10 m kg–1 p.o, B.W) and CCl4 (0.5 mL kg–1, i.p.). Group 3, 4 and 5 were BSE treated rats in a dose of 75, 150 and 300 mg kg–1, respectively. All rats were tested for physical as well as biochemical estimations like ALP, blood glucose, insulin and bilirubin content. Histopathological examination of liver was also performed in trial groups of rats. Results: The extract at a dose of 300 mg kg–1 (i.p.) showed significant protective effect by reducing the higher content of cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and VLDL level in serum of rats. It also showed a potential decrease in ALP, total bilirubin and SGOT content in serum. The rats treated with extract showed less hepatic damage in liver cells as compare with negative control group rats. Conclusion: This study concluded that the rats treated with BSE have significant hepatoprotective action and acts by modulating the hepatic enzymes secretion, via reducing weight gain and organ fat deposition in rats.
