  Several triester derivatives with enhanced physicochemical and tribological properties were obtained from Waste Cooking Oil (WCO) through the following chemical modifications successively, transesterification of WCO, epoxidation of Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) and oxirane ring opening with anhydrides. Effect of the chain length increase of anhydrides on the low temperature fluid, viscometric properties and oxidation stability of triester derivatives were studied using pour point tester, viscometer and Pressurized Differential Scanning Calorimetry (PDSC), respectively. The tribological properties of triester derivatives were evaluated on a four-ball tribotester and the morphology of worn surfaces of steel balls was investigated by SEM. All triester derivatives showed better physicochemical properties, anti-wear ability and higher load-carrying capacity compared to 250BS, a representative of mineral oils. The three-step chemical modifications of the WCO re-utilization proposed in this study provide a feasible method to obtain high value-added and eco-friendly products, i.e., biolubricants.

  Flame behavior of the gasoline-air explosion suppression by non-premixed nitrogen was studied by carrying out experiments in a closed tube through a visualization experimental bench and high speed photos of the flame front for the suppression process were acquired by a high speed camera. Based on the analysis of these high speed camera photos, flame behavior and flame velocity of the suppression process were discussed. Results showed that the whole suppression process can be divided into inertia maintenance stage, suppression attenuation stage and diffusion extinguishment stage. The dominant mechanism for the nitrogen non-premixed suppression is that the energy of the high-energy radicals of the chemical reaction could be taken away by the nitrogen molecule in the suppression section, resulting in the main reaction chains which were changed into termination chains.

  A phosphate ester containing nitrogen from methyl oleate was synthesized via epoxidation-reaction, epoxy-group nucleophilic ring-opening reaction and esterification, through chemical modification in double bond of methyl oleate molecule. The chemical structure of synthetic product was characterized by Infrared-spectroscopy. The tribological performance of synthetic product in rapeseed oil was investigated by four ball friction test machine. Results showed that, biodegradability biodegradability biodegradability biodegradabilityafter chemical modification, the anti-wear ability and extreme-pressure extreme pressure extreme pperformance of methyl oleate were improved significantly. The PB value increased 520-1323 N enhancing 154.42%, while PD value increased 1236-3089 N enhancing 149.92% and WSD decreased 0.56-0.39 mm dropping 23.53%. Results also indicated that the synthetic product could be used as a good extreme-pressure and anti-wear lubricant additive in the rapeseed oil. Finally, indicate that the phosphate film generated in the friction surface through tribochemical reaction is the main reason for tribological performance improving of the chemical modified methyl oleate.
