  Describing the behaviour of electromagnetic frequency responses from vertically inhomogenous and anisotropic earth of 2-Dimensional structures energized finite sources is computationally laborious. Differential equations were derived and their numerical solutions also sought for the desired components of electric and magnetic fields. Also expressions for the impedance and apparent conductivity were stated. An algorithm based on the finite element method for computing approximate numerical solutions for these problems were dealinated.

  The optical parameters of Silicon (Si) were determined from available data of normal reflectance of single crystal silicon measured at 0.01 eV-30 eV range by unpolarized light. Kramers-Kronig Analysis relationship was used to determine the optical parameters from the reflectance data. The results obtained from the KKT analysis was found to be in a satisfactory agreement with the previous results and literatures with little disparity observed for some optical parameters, particularly extinction coefficient, which was as a result of approximation made in extrapolation method used in evaluating reflectance phase shift/angle. From the calculated values of optical parameters by KKT analysis, an overview of electronic band structure of silicon was given particularly from the optical transition strength and absorption edge spectral. The relationship between efficiency of devices made from silicon and its band structures were also established.

  Survey for radiometric minerals has become important over the last few decades because of the demand for alternative to present common source of energy. Radiometric survey is one of the geophysical techniques in use in exploration for geothermal energy, which is generated mainly from the decay of long-lived radioactive isotopes. Ten fresh rock samples were collected from Osun-Osogbo river. This is to determine their radioactive heat production and the contribution of each radionuclide content. The radiogenic heat production was determined in the laboratory using NaI(Tl) gamma-ray spectrometer. The results shows that the contribution and rate of heat production of 40K, 238U and 232Th in the samples vary significantly with lithology. (rock type) and rock samples OS4 (mica) is associated with high heat production uranium.
