In this study, an advanced control technique for substrate feed rate regulation of fed batch fermentation is developed. It is reliable in dealing with possible variations in the process condition. In this study, neural network and fuzzy logic methods are used in the design. As a case study, the baker’s yeast production process is chosen to test these controllers. The evaluation of the performance of the designed controllers is carried out through computer simulation. To obtain a reliable assessment, the results are then compared with those of the PI controller. The results have shown that the proposed approaches can be successfully applied to regulate of fed-batch fermentation to improve the operation of such processes.

A population of trichodinid (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) was found in the gills of climbing perch, Anabas testudineus (Bloch, 1795) and was described as a new species. It is characterized by large body dimensions and having uniformly stained, dark central area at the centre of the adhesive disc; broad blade with angular and slightly rounded distal margin and flat tangent point, but almost parallel anterior and posterior margin; stout and cylindrical central part with bluntly rounded point which extends slightly more than halfway to the y-axis; and the ray is slightly curved in the posterior direction with anterior margin parallel to the y+1 axis and distinct central groove. Approximately 19.6% of the host fishes (45 out of 230) were infected with the ciliate on their gills during August 1999 and December 2001, The prevalence of this ciliate was higher during the post monsoon and colder period of the year. The variation is recorded and discussed. The species is probably more closely related to Trichodina ngoma, T. kwando, T. frenata and T. mutabilis.

The concept of media and communication is not a new phenomenon in the society. It involves in the discourse of human civilization on this earth. Its significance is enormous since in the eighteen and nineteenth centuries. In fact, modern age is the outcome of the multimedia. There are also some limitations in this regard towards the human values. Its role is so diversified that has reached us in a global village. It has a critical role in shaping and making a sustainable society to the mankind through its diversified cultural role. Modern philosophers treat it as a four organs of a welfare state. Many laws and policy in this regard have been developed. Some laws in different countries such as the Information Act, Data Protection Act, the Environmental Court Act, the Stockholm Conference 1972; Rio de Janeiro 1992, the Johannesburg Conference 2002, the World Charter for Nature; the Basel Convention 1989; the EC Directive on Environmental Information 1991; the Industrial Accidents Convention 1992; the Eco-Labelling Legislation, etc. under the international environmental laws have been developed. It has been contributing to the theme of the environmental communication which is related to the concept of environmental governance. It is in fact a new idea in the history of the sustainable development on this earth.
