  Biodisposition of drug was investigated in male volunteers following the oral dose of 250mg. Blood samples were collected after predetermined schedule and drug concentration was determined by microbiological assay. The two compartment model kinetics analysis of plasma clarithromycin concentration versus time data revealed that the average ± SD values of t1/2ß, clearance and volume of distribution are 1.36±0.14h, 20.43±3.04 l/h and 39.91±1.461 l/kg respectively. The absorption rate constant, area under curve (AUC) and mean resident time with ± SD are 0.51±0.05h, 12.36±1.43 and 4.17±43 h respectively.

  The urinary excretion and metabolism of 4-Methyl 2-sulfanilamido-oxazole (sulfamethoxazole) were determined in goats following intravenous injection of a single dose 50 mg/kg body weight. The percentage of intravenous dose of 4-Methyl 2-sulfanilamido-oxazole (sulfamethoxazole) excreted in the urine until 24 hour as total amine was 61.0 ± 5.2 per cent, free amine 43.2 ± 4.6 per cent and acetyl amine was 17.8 ± 1.2 per cent. The mean ± SE values for relative percentage of Metabolite I identified as unchanged amine was 42.3 % Metabolite II acetyl amine was 15.67 per cent, Metabolite III hydroxy derivative 18.33 and as conjugated Metabolite were 23.33 per cent. In goats, the urinary excretion and Metabolism of 4-Methyl 2-sulfanilamido-oxazole (sulfamethoxazole) revealed differences appprising as adjustment dosage regimen in the indigenous goats.

  Ofloxacin a synthetic fluorinated analog of nalidixic acid is broad spectrum antibiotic. This study was designed to find pharmacokinetics of ofloxacin in healthy male volunteers under indigenous conditions. A total of 15 healthy male volunteers were included in this study. Ofloxacin (200 mg) was administered orally and blood samples were collected at different time intervals. The blood samples were analyzed for drug concentration by microbiological assay. The plasma concentration verses times data was used to determine pharmacokinetics parameters by one compartment model kinetic analysis. The mean (SD) values for different parameters were, absorption rate constant (Ka) 7.833 (8.683) l h -1, area under curve (AUC) 14.545 (4.304) h, mg l -1, total body clearance (CI) 14.913 (4.373) l h -1, volume of distribution (Vd) 130.76 (25.598) l, elimination half life (t1/2 ) 6.419 (1.789) h, elimination rate constant (k10 ) 0.154 (0.139) l h -1, mean residence time (MRT) 10.104 (2.384) h, absorption half life (t1/2α ) 0.212 (0.151) h, time to maximum concentration (tmax) 1.397 (0.599) h and maximum concentration (Cmax) 1.416 (0.305)micro grams ml -1. Values of parameters like Vd, AUC and Cl were comparable with foreign studies. While t1/2β , Ka were higher, and C max , tmax were lower in local population as compared with the foreign studies.

  In this study bacterial flora of meat in chicken Shawarma (meat) were investigated from five different regions of Lahore. Samples were taken from internal and external part of Shwarma. The contamination was present in both external and internal part of meat. But external part was found to be little more contaminated as compared to internal part. Analysis of microbes includes E. coli, Salmonella, Aerobes and Coliforms. Microbs were found in order of Aerobes > E. coli > Salmonella there is not too much variation of contamination in different regions but there is variation among the number of bacteria. In every part Aerobes were in greater number as compared to E. coli and Salmonella. Shawarma analyzed from the Site III was more contaminated as compared to other sites. The external part of the product showed more microbial load as compared to internal part.
