  This study considered reorder point on the continuous review inventory model under controllable lead time with mixture of backorder price discounts and partial lost sales. We developed a continuous review inventory model where the lead time, the order quantity, backorder discount and safety factor were considered as the decision variables of a mixture of backorders and lost sales inventory model. The objective was to minimize the expected total annual cost with respect to related decision variables. The purpose model with lead time demand distribution was unknown. The author applies a minimax distribution free procedure to find the optimal solution and numerical example was included to illustrate the solution procedure of the proposed algorithms.

  In this study, we focus on the impact of combining the decision support system and the continuous review integrated inventory model involving controllable lead time, ordering cost and backorders. The objective is to establish a decision support system with integrated inventory model to minimize the joint total expected inventory cost by simultaneously considering ordering cost, ordering quantity, safety factor, lead time, backorder discount and the number of lots delivered from vendor to buyer. Because the reduction of inventory cost plays an important role in production management, this research builds a decision support system to deal with the integrated inventory model. In the decision support system concerning about the inventory model, we take both the vendor and the buyer into account and help the decision maker to make decisions.

  This study addresses the two-machine flow-shop scheduling problems in which both machines are versatile and thus alternative operations are possible. The performance measures are the mean flow time and makespan of jobs, respectively. The problem is formulated as two integer programming models and two heuristics are developed. Computational results are provided to demonstrate the efficiency of the models and the effectiveness of the heuristics. The integer programming technique is inefficient even for small problems. For the set of problems with known optimal solutions, the average percentage errors of heuristics H1 and H2 are within 10%, respectively. For the set of problems with unknown optimal solutions, the average percentage errors of heuristic H1 for solving the mean flow time is 20.09%, while the average percentage errors of heuristic H2 for solving the makespan is 20.84%.

  This study investigates the impact of safety factor on the continuous review inventory model involving controllable lead time with mixture of backorder discount and partial lost sales. The objective is to minimize the expected total annual cost with respect to order quantity, backorder price discount, safety factor and lead time. A model with normal demand is also discussed. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the procedures of the algorithms and the effects of parameters on the result of the proposed models are analyzed.
