  The herbs garlic, elderberry, black seed have acknowledged therapeutic use in traditional medicine. With their immune-effective compounds, they are of much application in the traditional treatment of infections, the present study attempts a comparative investigation of the roles of the aforementioned herbs in the immune system and blood proteins. In this study, the mice of the Balb/C genus were divided into four groups: control, 1, 2 and 3. Each of these received 50, 100, 200 mg kg-1 of garlic, elderberry and black seed extracts, respectively. The extract was injected using the Inner Peritoneum (IP) Method every other day for 20 days. At the end of the experiments, blood samples were taken to conduct a count of white blood cells and an electrophoresis of blood proteins. The results were evaluated through SPSS at a p<0.05 level. The analysis indicates that black seed and garlic extract were able to increase the number of white blood cells. While black seed gave rise to the amount of white blood cells and also caused the albumin, alpha 1 and 2 proteins and the A/G ratio to increase, garlic was effective in raising alpha 1 and gamma globulin levels. This is in contrast with elderberry which plays a significant role in decreasing the gamma protein’s density. The two herbs, garlic and black seed, impressed the immune system through changing the density of such blood proteins albumin, alpha 1 and 2 and altering the number of white blood cells whereas the result suggest no significant effect in the case of elderberry.

  Betamethasone stimulates production of necessary enzymes for reducing inflammatory responses. This drug is a long-acting steroid which produces quick anti inflammatory effects with long time effect. Effects of betamethasone on sexual hormes of female mice were studied in this study. Mice were divided in five groups (control, placebo and three treatments groups) with ten members in each group. Samples were kept in similar condition be synchronized in estrus cycle. Betamethasone was prepared in 0.1, 0.5 and 1 mg kg-1 doses and injected in peritoneum for 20 days. Control group was not injected while placebo received normal saline. After ten injections blood samples were prepared and the amounts of LH, FSH, strogen and progestron hormones were evaluated by RIA Method. Obtained results showed that strogen, progesterone and LH were reduced by all treatment significantly whereas FSH was increased in 0.5 and 1 mg kg-1 groups. According to results, betamethasone affects sexual hormones dose dependently and then can affect female sexual potential.

  The use of botanical medicine is ancient and plant chemicals are still the backbone of the pharmacopoeia because >50% of drugs used in western pharmacopoeia are isolated from herbs or derived from modification of chemicals first found in plants. Zingiber officinale Roscoe. (Ginger) is a spice that has been used from 2,000 years ago as a medicine in several Asian countries. Recent studies showed that it has various pharmacological effects. So, in this study the effect of Zingiber on mice renal system has investigated. Ginger ethanol extract was administered every 48 h for a period of 20 days, Intraperitoneally (IP) to male mice. The liver, kidney and bladder were collected as tissue samples from executed animals for pathological examination. On pathological examination, there were no morphological changes under light microscope in the liver. A histological examination of kidneys shows that after treatment with the low and middle doses (10, 20 mg/kg/48 h) the ginger produced little damaging effects on the kidney, it appears that ginger has no adverse effects in renal function but the extract in higher doses (40 mg/kg/48 h) may have some negative effects on the renal function. Undergo observable chances the renal toxicity was significantly enhanced there were interstitial inflammation. Formation of hyaline cast, regeneration of renal tubules, glomerulosclerosis, hypertrophy of glomeruli and basement membrane thickening. This indicated that with regards to the results ginger in high doses induce histological changes in the kidneys indicating the need to identify a safe dose range for ginger.

  Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) means thousands leaves plant and belongs to Asteraceae family. Yarrow is a gramineous perennial plant which grows in mountainous regions of Europe, North Africa and East Asia (including North Iran and Alborz heights). This plant has many health benefits like treating problems of digestive system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system (stimulating blood circulation and lowering blood pressure) and genital-urinary system. In this study, the effect of Yarrow extract was evaluated on immunity parameters of blood serum in little female laboratory rats (Balb/C race). At first, samples were divided randomly in 5 groups: three treatment groups, one control group and one placebo group. Each group had eight members and all groups were kept in similar conditions. Hydroalcoholic extract was prepared in three doses including 50, 100 and 200 mg kg-1 and was injected in peritoneum every 2 days for 20 days. Normal saline was injected to placebo group. All measurements were done using Protein Electrophoresis Method. Measured parameters were albumin amount, α-1 and α-2 globulin, β globulin, gamma globulin, albumin globulin ratio and total protein. Results showed that the amount of albumin, β globulin and total protein were increased in all three doses. A-2 were decreased in all treatments and α-1 were increased in all three doses but this increase was significant for doses 100 and 200 mg. Albumin globulin ratio was increased also in all treatments but it was significant only for 50 mg. Gamma globulin amount was increased in 50 and 100 mg but decreased a little in 200 mg. Results of this study showed that Yarrow extract caused significant changes in blood immune parameters and can affect immune system of body even in absence of antigenic factors.

  Balm (Melissa officinalis) is a fragrant plant from Laminacea family which has many medical properties including relaxing, anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of hydro alcoholic extract of balm on activity of liver enzymes including AST, ALT and ALP and also liver tissues variation in Balb/C mice. Samples were randomly divided into five groups (three treatment groups, placebo and control group) with eight members in each group. Groups were kept under similar conditions. Hydro alcholic extract was prepared in three doses (50,100 and 200 mg kg-1) and were IP for 20 days. Normal saline was used for placebo group. After the last injection blood samples were taken and liver tissues were separated. Changes of AST, ALT and ALP enzymes was evaluated using one way variance analysis and SPSS program (p<0.05). Tissue changes of liver were studied using coloring with H&E technique. According to results, ALT and ALP enzyme was increased (p<0.05) in 200 mg kg-1 dose. Hepatocytes number and histology of liver didn’t show significant variations. On the whole, hydro alcoholic extract of balm could have conservative effects via reducing ALT and ALP enzymes and no harmful effects on liver tissue. So, it can play an important role in preventing and curing diseases in traditional and also current medicine.

  The Garden Angelica (Angelica archangelica) in the past time was used as an hematopoiesis plant. With this point that the importance of hematopoiesis and use of herbal medicines instead of chemical medicines that have side effects, this research has studying the effect of Angelica archangelica hydroalcohol extract on the blood parameters in mice. About 40 mature mices were divided into 5 groups. The control group did not receive any extract, the placebo group received 0.5 cc normal saline every other day and 3 treatment groups received extract with (50, 100, 200) mg/kg/2 days doses that was used IP injection. Then the blood samples were taken from the mices. Study blood parameters show that the extract markedly increased the total number of white blood cells in groups 1-3. The number of red blood cells increased significantly in group 3 compared with the control group but 1 and 2 groups have not increased significantly compared to control group. This extract was caused change in the hematocrit, hemoglobin and as for the index of red blood cells (MCV, MCH and MCHC) that have not statistical significant. The extract of Angelica archangelica can effective in hematopoiesis with increase the number of red blood cells and support the immune system with increase the number of white blood cells.

  Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the most important vegetables in herbal medicine. This plant is belonging to Asteraceae family and has many therapeutic properties in traditional medicine. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of hydro alcoholic extract of lettuce on blood indices, sugar, insulin, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL and LDL in Balb/C mice. Forty mice with about 25 g weight and the age range of 3-4 months were divided randomly in five groups including control, placebo and three experimental groups. All groups were kept under similar conditions. Hydro alcoholic extract of lettuce were prepared in 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg/day doses and IP injected of treatment groups for 20 days. Normal saline was used to inject to placebo group. The most important studied parameters were number of red and white blood cells, hematocrite, MCH, MCV, MCHC, sugar, insulin, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL and LDL. At the end of study blood samples were taken and following results were obtained: Red blood cells and hematocritee were decreased significantly in 100 and 200 mg treatments whereas white blood cells were increased significantly (p<0.05) in these treatments. Blood sugar was significantly decreased in all three treatment groups and insulin was reduced only in 200 mg group significantly. Also, cholesterol of 50 mg group reduced significantly whereas other parameters no changed. On the whole, hydro alcoholic extract of lettuce can have positive effects on white blood cells, sugar, insulin and cholesterol dose-dependently.

  Garlic (Allium sativum) is belonging to Alleacea family. This plant has anti microbial, anti cancer properties because of its organosulfuric compounds. In this research, effect of hydro-alcoholic extract of garlic was studied on reproduction system of female mice (Balb/C). At first, samples were divided in 5 groups with 10 members: 1 group as control, 3 groups received treatments and 1 group received placebo. Samples were kept in same places. For synchronizing estrous cycles of rats, cloprostenol and progesterone were injected in their peritoneum with a 3 days interval. Hydro-alcoholic extract of garlic was prepared in 3 doses (50,100 and 200 mg kg-1) and was injected in peritoneum for 20 days. Control group was not injected and placebo group was injected using physiological serum. After 10 injections, samples bloods were analyzed for FSH, LH, estrogen and progesterone using RIA method. Results showed significant reduction in FSH and LH levels and significant increase in estrogen and progesterone levels. According to results of this study, hydro-alcoholic extract of garlic has a negative effect on female reproduction system in all various doses (50,100 and 200 mg kg-1).

  Marshmallow is a herbaceous perennial plant with many therapeutic uses in herbal medicine. In this research, effects of hydroalcoholic extract of marshmallow's root were studied on electrophoresis pattern of blood proteins. About 50 female mice were divided in 5 groups including control, placebo and 3 treatment groups. Hydro alcoholic extract (50, 100 and 200 mg kg-1) was injected in peritoneum of mice every other day for 20 days. Blood samples were taken for studying electrophoresis pattern and immunity. Obtained data were analyzed using SPSS program at 5% probability level. According to results, beta globulin concentration was not affected by treatments. Albumin concentration was reduced in 50 and 100 mg kg-1 groups and the ratio of albumin to globulin was decreased in all experimental groups significantly. Gama globulin concentration of all experimental groups and α-1 globulin concentration of 100 mg kg-1 were increased significantly. Concentration of α-2 globulin was increased in 50 and 100 mg kg-1 groups significantly.

  Almond is a plant with a scientific name Prunus amygdolus. This plant has much medical effects that is the most important increase of immune system potential. In this research, the effect of Prunus amygdolus extract on blood protein concentration was investigated in mice (Balb/C). In this research, 50 mice were divided casually in 5 groups (control, placebo and 3 care groups). The extract was obtained in 50, 100 and 200 mg kg-1 dosages, in an Inner Peritoneum (IP) method was injected, respectively to the 3 care groups for 20 days. The control group did not receive any extract. The placebo group received normal saline for 20 days. Then blood samples were collected of all mice by blood to the heart and albumin, α-1 and 2, β and γ globulin were analyzed in the level p<0.05 with the statistical software SPSS in p<0.05. The study showed that the concentration of α-1 in all groups and β globulin in 50 and 100 groups increased but α-2 and γ globulin in all groups decrease significantly (p<0.05). Albumin concentration decrease in 200 group significantly (p<0.05). These findings indicate Prunus amygdolus extract has effect on blood protein concentration and immune system function dose dependently.

  Celery (Apium graveolens) has many therapeutic effects. This plant has many phytoestrogens that can affect on the reproductive endocrine system and can reduce fertility. In this study, hydro alcoholic extracts of celery leaves on the reproductive parameters in young male mice of Balb/C was investigated. The samples were randomly divided into 5 groups (3 treatment groups, placebo and control). Celery leaves hydro-alcoholic extract in different doses (50, 100, 150 mg/kg/2 day) was injected (IP) for 20 days. The placebo group was used for injection of normal saline. The samples were randomly divided into 5 groups (3 treatment groups, placebo and control). After 10 injections, samples bloods were analyzed for FSH, LH and testosterone using RIA method. Results showed that concentrations of FSH in 100 and 150 mg kg-1 decreased significantly while LH and testosterone concentrations in all experimental groups decreased (p<0.05). This study showed dose dependent negative effect of celery extracts in male reproductive potential.

  The neonatal calves, due to their species and special placenta’s structure are born without immune system for contrasting the pathogenic factors and rely on the Ig supply of colostrums through passive immunity transfer. The goal (purpose) of this study was surveying the effects of commercial colostrums (Globigen) on calves health, immunity and blood factors. Total 21 Holstein calves were selected in 3 groups in a random model in this study. The experimental group was as follow: Group 1 (7 calves)-control group fed with maternal colostrums. Total weight = 5.5 kg maternal colostrums in 24 h. Treatment 2 (7 calves) fed with half maternal colostrums+half Globigen® Colostrums. Total weight = 5.5 kg in 24 h (2.75 kg maternal colostrums+2.75 g Globigen® Colostrums solved in 2.75 L warm water). Treatment 3 (7 calves) fed with Globigen® Colostrums. Total weight = 5.5 kg in 24 h (550 g solved in 5.5 L warm water). Blood samples collected from all calves 2 times: After birth and 24 h after that again and blood factors inclusive serums density of IgG , 1 IgG , IgY, cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose, protein, albumin, globulin, ALT, AST and keratin and also 2 weight and fecal score of the calves were surveyed. The SAS98 software was used for statistics analyses and the Duncan test method between comparison of averages (p<0.05) was used to comparison between averages. In this study, immunoglobulins did not increase by Globigen using. The calf’s weight had additive effect than the treatments in control group. The calves in 2nd group were suffering from diarrhea and the number of mortality in 2nd group was more than the other groups. Base on the obtained results, Globigen use as a colostrums alternative is not practical and this product can only be used as a colostrums supplement.

  Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a group of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids with >1 double bond and a mixture of 28 isomers of linoleic acid (C 18:2) and it is counted as one of the essential fatty acids. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of CLA on some reproductive hormones and ram semen quality in non-reproductive season. In this study, 6 heads of 3-4 years old rams with the average weight of 90 kg were selected. Diet rams were used by NRC. Rams were randomly divided into 3 groups and were treated by CLA for 30 days. The 1st group (as a control group) did not receive CLA. The 2nd group received 0.5 g day¯1 and the 3rd group received 1g day¯1 of CLA. Consumed CLA included the c9, t11 and t10, c12 isomers. The blood testing was done on rams every 15 days (0, 15 and 30) and sperm measurements were performed every 15 days using an artificial vagina. Data analysis was performed by SAS software. Also, mean comparison was done using Duncan’s test method (p<0.05). Obtained results showed that the serum concentration of testosterone hormone was decreased numerically, as well as the concentration of FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone). However, the concentration of LH (Luteinizing Hormone) was increased. Also, the CLA had a significant effect on leptin concentration. CLA in oral form can reduce the concentration of testosterone and increase sperm motility in rams. According to the obtained results in this survey, CLA is knowingly effective on reproduction. In rams, it caused an increase in dihydroxy testosterone concentrations, however it reduced the total testosterone concentration. Also, CLA caused a significant increase in total motility and progressive motility of sperms in ram.

  Aloe vera is perennial herbaceous plant of Liliacea family. This plant has many medicinal properties which have made it an important pharmaceutical plant. The effects of hydroalcoholic extract of aloe vera gel on testis tissue and spermatogenesis of mice (Balb/C race) were studied in this study. Samples were divided randomly in 5 groups including control, placebo and 3 treatment groups with 10 members in each group which all groups were kept in similar conditions. Hydro alcoholic extract was prepared in 50, 100 and 200 mg kg-1 doses and was injected in sample’s peritoneum every other day for 20 days. Placebo group received only normal saline. Testosterone, LH and FSH hormones levels and also the number of stem cells, primary spermatocytes and relative testis weight were measured. All hormone tests were done using RIA. Results showed that aloe vera increased the number of stem cells and primary spermatocytes significantly in all treatment groups. Also, significant changes occurred in 3rd experimental group (200 mg kg-1). Testosterone was increased in 3rd group (p<0.05) while LH and FSH hormones did not show any significant changes. According to results, aloe vera extract has positive effect on testosterone and histological properties of testis, dose dependently.
