  Five types of fertilizers were applied to potato plant cultivation. Namely: compost banana, livestock`s manure, poultry wastes, urea and ammonium nitrate. The population densities of Phthorimaea operculella population infesting different fertilized potato cultivation were evaluated in both the field and the store. When the bioinsecticides Bacillus thuringiensis, Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopilae, margosan-O were added to the fertilizers during the fertilization periods; the densities of the potato tuber moth P. operculella were significantly reduced. Accordingly, spoiled potatoes were significantly decreased in the treated areas. The highest potatoes weights (399 and 439 kilos/fedan) were obtained when the fungus B. bassiana was mixed with compost banana fertilizer during season, 003 and 2004 season, respectively. Addition of other bioinsecticides to the fertilizers also showed different levels of reductions in the weight loss of the potato crop during both seasons.

  Susceptibility of the potato tuber moth larvae Phthorimaea operculella to the entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopilae were detected. The LC50 of B. bassiana and M. anisopliae against P. operculella neonate larvae were 3.4x10 and 8.61x107 conidia/ml, respectively. The metabolic acids (oxalic and citric acids) scored the highest enhancement in the efficiency of B. bassiana and M. anisopliae against the first larval instar of P. operculella. Some chemical additives caused an increase in the efficiency of the tested fungi against the target insects.

  The effect of two microbial entomopathogens (Bacillus thuringiensis and Beauveria bassiana) and three botanical extracts; methanolic extract of Taxodium distichum leaves, volatile oil (V.O) of Taxodium distichum leaves and (V.O) Boswella carterii (gum resin) were studied on three stored product insects, Plodia interpunctella, Ephestia cautella and Ephestia küehniella. At 5% concentration level to the botanical extract, T. distichum leaves (methanolic extract), scored the highest potential effects against the target insects (88-90% mortalities) . The other botanical extracts at this concentration caused also high effects (75-81 mortalities).The different stages of the target insects were affected by a lower concentration at 0.5%. The treatments, beside inducing reasonable larval mortality, caused increase in the malformed pupae and deformed adults. Botanical extracts tested when combined with B. thuringiensis caused a significant enhancement to the pathogens and increased the mortality in almost all cases. When the extract in combination with B. bassiana caused a less than 50% reduction in the LC50 especially Taxodium distichum (V.O).
