  Twenty star crossbred broilers of 5 weeks age were taken and divided into 4 groups to know the suitable method of fracture immolization. The fixation devices used were adhesive tape with wood splint, intramedullary pinning and dynamic compression plate with cortical screws and one group as control kept in case rest. To monitor the healing status, the radiographs were taken at 3rd, 4th and 6th postoperative weeks. Minimal fracture gap, callus formation and excellent alignment were found in dynamic compression plate. Fracture gap reduces significantly (P<0.01) with small callus formation and good alignment in dynamic compression plate group but similar result along with larger callus found in intramedullary group. The present study suggested that dynamic compression plate is the best method for fixation of fractured bone in birds.

  Morphological attributes and yield of eight genotypes of tomato namely, J-5, Binatomato-5, BARItomato-7, CLN-2026, CLN-2366, CLN-2413, CLN-2418 and CLN-2443 were studied over three seasons. Effects of seasonal and genotypic variations and their combination on plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of flower clusters per plant, number of fruit clusters per plant, number of fruits per plant, individual fruit weight, fruit yield were significant. Fruit yield and almost all the morphological attributes of tomato genotypes were at peak in winter followed by pre-winter and summer season. Over three seasons, the genotype CLN-2413 produced the highest fruit yield followed by BARI tomato-7 producing the tallest plants with maximum number of primary branches and the highest number of fruits per plant. The genotypes Binatomato-5, CLN-2026 and CLN-2418 ranked 3rd and CLN-2366 and CLN-2443 ranked 4th with respect to yield performance. The genotype J-5 produced the lowest number of fruits per plant and fruit yield. In winter, fruits number and yield were highest in CLN-2413 while BARI tomato-7 carried the statistically same rank.

  An on-farm experiment was conducted to know the performance of Leaf Color Chart (LCC) based N application in rice compared with conventional farmers practice during aman season 2002 in nine farmer ’ s field at Gazipur districts of Bangladesh. Nine rice genotypes were included in the experiment and each genotype was cultivated in each farmers plot. Basal application of fertilizer was made with P, K, S and Zn. Top dress of N was made according to the treatments. LCC based N application produced slightly higher but insignificant grain yield than conventional farmer’s N application practice. N use efficiency was much higher in LCC based N application. 19-37 kg Nha -1 was saved in LCC and it reduces disease and insect infestation in rice. It plays a positive role on environment by reducing the use of agrochemicals.
