  Problem statement: Inadequate knowledge of electromagnetic field emitted by mobile phones and increased usage at close proximity, created a lot of skepticism and speculations among end users on its safety or otherwise. Approach: In this study, near field electromagnetic field radiation measurements were conducted on different brand of mobile phones in active mode using a tri-axis isotropic probe and electric field meter. Results: The highest electromagnetic field exposure was recorded when the mobile phones are at outgoing call mode and backing the probe, which is higher in comparison to ICNIRP guidelines for exposure to general public. Conclusion: According to this finding, some mobile phones electromagnetic field radiation were found to be lower than the ICNIRP guidelines while some were far above the guidelines. Electromagnetic field intensity however, depends on the mode of operation and proximity of the mobile phones to the end user; hence it is safer to use mobile phones at SMS mode.

  The exposure of human body to electric field and magnetic field could cause biological effects, including changes in functions of cells and tissues and subtle changes in hormone levels, which may or may not be harmful. The aim of this study was to analyze and compute the amount of electrical potential, electric field and magnetic flux density at a certain point and distance from the overhead high voltage power lines of 132 and 275 kV in Malaysia. An analytical calculus method is proposed in order to accomplish this study. The models of the power lines were constructed using the actual physical dimensions of the towers. The results show that the exposure levels of the electromagnetic fields to the public is low if they stay more than 30 m away from the power lines. For the live-line worker, the exposure to the high electric and magnetic field could endanger their body if they stay too close to the conductor. The evaluations of the electrical potential, electric field strength and magnetic flux density are done using the Matlab environment. Matlab’s Graphical User Interface (GUI) techniques are developed as an easy and user-friendly tool to be used.

  Research indicated that there is no proven cure for autism sufferers. Usually, implementing the appropriate treatment and education can eventually help the autism person to be integrated into their community. However, the conventional visual schedule and training system that depending on physical tool and toy bringing the difficulty on changing or update the picture, text and current using tool. Therefore, Digital Visual Schedule and Training System (DVST System) is developed as a user- friendly, interactive and flexibility system for children with autism. The inconveniency of traditional training program that depending on physical tool or multiple application software is improved by DVST system that provides a complete set of features and functions for the therapist and autistic children to carry out the administration work (for therapist-Server) as well as training program (for autistic children-Client) in a single application.

  Problem statement: In this study, a distributed power control algorithm is proposed for Dynamic Frequency Hopping Optical-CDMA (DFH-OCDMA) system. Approach: In general, the DFH-OCDMA can support higher number of simultaneous users compared to other OCDMA techniques. However, the performance of such system degrades significantly as the received power does lower than its minimum threshold. Results: This may obviously occur in a DFH-OCDMA network with near-far problem which consist of different fiber lengths among the users, that resulting to unequal power attenuation. The power misdistribution among simultaneous active users at the star coupler would degrade the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance for users whose transmitting signals with longer fiber lengths. In order to solve these problems, we propose an adaptive distributed power control technique for DFH-OCDMA to satisfy the target Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) for all users. Conclusion: Taking into account the noise effects of Multiple Access Interference (MAI), Phase Induced Intensity Noise (PIIN) and shot noise, the system can support 100% of users with power control as compared to 33% without power control when the initial transmitted power was -1dBm with 30 simultaneous users.
