  The research work was conducted to find out the optimum plant spacing for maximizing the yield of turmeric. Four plant spacing i.e., 45 x 10, 45 x 20, 45 x 30 and 60 x 30 cm2 were considered in the study. The highest average yield (17.87 t ha-1) was obtained from 45 x 10 cm2 plant spacing which was closely followed (16.77 t ha-1) by 45 x 20 cm2 plant spacing. While the lowest average yield (13.42 t ha-1) was recorded from 60 x 30 cm2 plant spacing in respective two years. So, in agronomic point of view, 45 x 10 cm2 plant spacing is suitable but economically 45 x 20 cm2 plant spacing is viable for turmeric production.

  The research work was conducted to determine the economic return with integrated use of manure and fertilizer on cabbage cultivation as main and ratoon crop. The highest total gross return (Tk. 181365 ha-1) were obtained from T11 treatment with cowdung (3.75 t ha-1), mustard oil cake (0.65 t ha-1) and poultry manure (2.13 t ha-1) plus N130 P28 K108 kg ha-1 i.e. ,1/4 (CD + MOC+PM+NPK) in both main and ratoon crop. While the lowest total gross return (Tk. 69610 ha-1) was found in control treatment. The treatment T11 was economically profitable than other treatment in respect of net return (Tk. 91648 ha-1 and Tk. 25953 ha-1) and benefit cost ratio (2.79 and 3.08) for main and ratoon crop, respectively. Total net return (Tk. 117601 ha-1) and benefit cost ratio (2.84) were also found to be higher in T11 treatment. While the lowest total net return (Tk. 17993 ha-1) and benefit cost ratio (1.33) were recorded in control (T0) treatment.

  An experiment was conducted to ascertain the feasibility of green fodder harvest without affecting the seed yield of transplant aman rice. Plant height, number of leaves hill-1, number of tillers hill-1, green fodder yield and seed yield were significantly differed due to different cultivar and leaf clipping height. Latishail produced the highest plant height, number of leaves hill-1 and number of tillers hill-1 at all growth stages where BR10 showed the lowest among cultivars. The green fodder yield was also obtained highest (1.98 t ha-1) from latishail, which was statistically identical with BR10 and BR11. The highest seed yield (4.23 t ha-1) was obtained from BR11, which was followed by BR10 (4.01 t ha-1). The highest value of all parameters except seed yield were obtained from control plot at all growth stage where the lowest were recorded from clopping at 10 cm height. The plants clipped at 20 cm height, produced an average green fodder yield in addition to higher seed yield which was statistically similar to control. So it is possible to get green fodder by leaf clipping without seriously affecting the rice seed yield.
