  Varieties Rai-5, Shambal and Daulat of Brassica juncea and varieties Barisarisa-7 and Barisarisa-8 of Brassica napus were tested for yield and component characters under different levels of soil salinity. The variations due to salinity levels, varieties and variety-salinity (interaction) were significant for different characters. The variable degrees of increase and decrease of regression coefficient estimates (curve estimation) indicated the performance as influenced by different salinity levels. The performance of the variety Barisarisa-7 in plant height and days to first flowering is the best followed by Barisarisa-8 and Daulat. Barisarisa-8 showed the best performance in days to maturity followed by Barisarisa-7 and Shambal. Shambal followed by Daulat and Barisarisa-7was performed incase of number of siliqua per plant. Daulat performed better than others incase of seed per plant and seed yield per plant followed by Rai-5. Considering all the characters the most tolerance ability was found in Daulat under B. juncea and Barisarisa-7 under B. napus which were followed by Barisarisa-8 of B. napus against different levels of salinity.

  An experiment on intercropping of potato, bushbean and edible poded pea with wheat at different row ratios was conducted in the irrigated upland ecosystem to study the agronomic and economic productivity and advantages of intercropping as compared to sole cropping. Intercropping of potato with wheat at 2:5 row ratio gave significantly higher wheat equivalent yield (WEY), higher land equivalent ratio (LER), higher gross return and benefit cost ratio followed by the same intercropping at 3:8 row ratio. On the other hand, competitive ratio was lower when potato was intercropped with wheat at the 3:8 row ratio followed by the same intercropping at 2:5 ratio. On an average intercropping of potato with wheat at 2:5 row ratio indicated the advantage of intercropping than those of other tested crops at different row ratios and sole cropping.

  The present study was carried out during a period of four months at Central Disease Investigation Laboratory, Dhaka with the primary aim to measure the frequency of Gumboro in poultry based on sample submission and diagnostic protocol they have been using for poultry disease surveillance. The birds >30 days had a more frequency of Gumboro and the mortality was also comparatively higher in these group (15.66 risk ratio and 4.65 rate ratio). BV 300 strain was affected at a relatively higher rate and among the production group layer was evidenced to be more susceptible than broiler to IBD infection.
