  Genetic divergence of 35 sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) genotypes was estimated using D2 and principal component analysis for nine characters. The genotypes under study were grouped into 4 clusters. The cluster I contained the maximum number of genotype and the cluster III contained the minimum. The inter cluster distance in most of the cases were higher than the intra cluster distance indicating wider genetic diversity among the genotypes of different groups. The highest inter cluster distance between cluster III and IV followed by between III and V showing wide diversity among the groups.. The highest intra-cluster distance was observed in cluster IV and lowest in cluster II. Days to maturity, number of tiller/plant and 1000 grain weight showed maximum contribution towards total divergence among the genotypes.

  A study was undertaken on 30 young cattle (age 6-9) months, body weight 60-120 kg (of both sexes) of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh affected naturally with various gastrointesitinal Nematodiasis with a view to evaluating. The therapeutic efficacy of ivenmectin two times. The drug was administered at day ‘0` and 30th. In total 20 cattle were given treatment and 10 left as, control animals. The parameters studied were On the basis of fecal egg reduction, the efficacy was 100%, 100%, 100% and 95.8%, on day ‘0`, 7th, 21st and 30th after first treatment .On 30th post treatment day, the drug was repeated and the efficacy was 100% and 100% on 40th and 60th post treatment day (From Day ‘0`) in the animals of control group the `reduction was 0%. The body weight increased on 30th and 60th day in the treatment was not significant compared with the mean values of control group However there were some increase of body weight in both treatment and control group. The body weight increases were 8.60% and 11.95% in the treatment group and 3.26 and 4.34 in the control group on 30th and 60th day. Therefore the net weight gains in the treatment group were 5.44% (5.44% (8.60-3.26) and 7.91% (11.95-4.34) on those days. The growth or weight gain stimulated by ivermectin treatment although not statistically significant was still encouraging. The Hb increase in the treatment group was significant on (p< 0.05) 60th post treatment day. The PCV, total RBC and WBC and differential counts were almost within normal range in both the groups and there were no much detectable changes in the range and mean values of treatment and control group. The relative values of individual types of cells like lymphocyte, neutrophil, monocyte and basophil were also within normal range in both treatment and control groups. However, the percentage of eosinophil was slightly increased in both group in all study days. In parasitic diseases such increase of eosinophil may some time occur (Soulsby, 1989).

  In the present work, quality of twelve commercial gear oil brands has been assessed by evaluating the physical characteristics and phosphorus contents. Physical parameters (Flash point, Pour Point, Viscosity index and Kinematic viscosity) and phosphorus contents were determined by standard test methods recommended by the American Society for Testing and Material (ASTM). Evaluated parameters have been compared with PSI standard specifications and the manufacturers specifications. Results indicate that none of the gear oil samples satisfy fully PSI standard test limits specified for Extreme Pressure Grade gear oils. Only a few samples have fulfilled the specifications given by the manufacturers. Marketing of sub-standard gear oil products in Pakistan is an alarming situation. Government of Pakistan should take strict measures to improve the quality of gear oils widely used in sophisticated machines.

  Water culture experiment was conducted to observe the effects of different levels of Zn and P alone and in combination on the growth ,chlorophyll and peroxidase contents of rice (cv. Shadab).The concentrations for the study were Zn: 0.0, 5.0, 10.0, and 20.0 mg L-11, and P 0.0, 20.0, 40.0, 60.0 mg L -1. It was observed that the growth of fresh and dry weights of shoot, root and its length were increased in more or less all the treatments as compared to control. Contrary to this the chlorophyll and peroxidase contents were substantially decreased with increasing levels of Zn and P. It was observed that intermediate levels of both Zn and P were seemed to be beneficial for the growth of rice.

  An experiment was conducted in Plant Physiology Division at NIA, Tandojam, to find out a suitable growing technique for germination and seedling growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Techniques used were: I) Inclined glass plate blotter, ii) Agar gel medium and iii) PVC Germinator. There were no significant differences among the three planting methods on the germination and seedling growth of wheat. However, PVC Germinators were convenient and inexpensive compared with the agar gel and inclined glass plate blotter methods.
