This paper considers advance order strategies in a two-echelon supply chain with one supplier and multiple buyers for seasonal products. We study how advance strategies affect the interactions between the supply chain members. In contrast to much of the literature, we specifically consider the supply chain with multiple buyers by introducing a demand function under uncertainty. Furthermore, we present two main different advance order strategies. We assume that exactly one of the multiple buyers has the ability to make an advance order before the selling season (we call this buyer the natural leader). In one strategy, the natural leader can only order products one time. The model shows that, below a threshold level of demand uncertainty, the supplier can benefit from providing adequate pricing incentives to entice the natural leader to order products before demand information is revealed. In another one, the natural leader can order products two times, we find that the supplier always can gain more profit from this advance order strategy. Our results show that the first advance order strategy is easier to control but has more strict constraint on coefficients of variation, while both two advance strategies bring more flexibility to the supply chain.

  Field emission behavior of diamond-like carbon (DLC) and phosphorus-doped DLC (p-DLC) films prepared by electrochemical deposition process was comparatively investigated. It was shown phosphorus incorporation in the DLC film could lower the turn on field from 12 to 9.5V/μm and increase the current density from 12.6 to 45.7μA/mm2 under high electric field. And better field emission performance of p-DLC films would be mainly attributed to the influence of the surface morphology and the changes of microstructure due to the phosphorus incorporation.

  This study introduces a novel design of 1MHz 8-bits Successive Approximation Analog-to-Digital Conversion (SAR ADC) circuit for the application of AGC (Auto-Gain Control) module within a RF (Radio Frequency) receiver channel by using 0.25 μm SOI CMOS (Silicon On Insulation, Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) process. The schematic design of the proposed circuit is based on the R-2R resistor matching network, current mirror structure and high precision comparator. Such arrangement improves the overall precision of the proposed SAR ADC. An inside start-pulse generator is employed at the same time to achieve a compact time sequence and further improve the utilization of the overall system clock frequency. The testing results show that the DNL for the proposed SAR ADC is less than 0.5 LSB and its INL is less than 1 LSB.

  In this study, an automated testing system for a reflection-type Vector Modulators (VM) comprised of a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and a LabVIEW based testing software is presented. The testing system with a friendly Graphic User Interface (GUI) is able to evaluate all the functionality of the VMs and allows the user to test the FPGA module step-by-step or to automate the testing in a sequential way. In case of multiple VM testing, all the VMs can be tested in one time by automatically sending the control commands to manipulate the bias voltage of each VM. Only one FPGA based hardware is needed in the testing system for the bias voltage control. This present testing system is highly efficient for VM testing and can be easily generalized to the testing of other VMs.

  A novel highly integrated front-end T/R module with eight RF channels for the application of a K-band transceiver is presented. The proposed T/R module is based on the LTCC package combined with embedded microwave passive circuits and a variety of microwave transistor dies. Due to the applied multi-layer LTCC technology, the overall size and weight of the designed module is greatly reduced. Furthermore, such design improves the overall performance of the T/R module with a lower cost and high efficiency.

  Marek’s Disease (MD) is one of the main infectious diseases that threaten the healthy development of the Chinese poultry industry. The evolution of epidemic strains of the MD Virus (MDV) in China is different from the evolution of strains overseas. The meq gene sequence of pathogenic strains is different from that of the attenuated vaccine strain (MDV-1). The meq and L-meq gene sequences of the MDV in the lymphoid tissue of chickens in latency period are homologous. The meq gene was only found in the lymphoid tissue of chickens during the onset period.

  Two series of symmetrical azine-type liquid crystals were synthesised and their chemical structures identified by FTIR, 1H NMR and elemental analysis. Their mesomorphic properties were investigated by polarising optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction. The characteristic of these liquid crystals is that they have a high clearing point (most were higher than 320°C) and a broad thermal range in the mesophase. The end groups of the liquid crystals had an effect on their mesomorphic properties. The series with alkoxy end groups all exhibited both smectic A (SmA) and a nematic phase, whereas the series with alkyl end groups showed only nematic phase at their lower analogues and showed both SmA and nematic properties at their higher analogues.
