  The aim of the study was to compare the clinical usage of filling materials such as amalgam, glass ionomer cement and resin composite. A 2 years old male and weighing 16 kg stray dog, was used. Cavities were made in a routine manner by a frez. Cavities of the buccal surfaces of the left maxillar molar, premolar, canine and incisive teeth were filled with amalgam, cavities of the buccal surfaces of the left mandibular molar, premolar, canine and incisive teeth were filled with glass ionomer cement and cavities of the buccal surfaces of the right mandibular molar, premolar, canine and incisive teeth were loaded with resin composite. The dog was monitored for a period of 6 months for the applicability of dental restorative materials. It was concluded that amalgam and resin composite were more usable than glass ionomer cement in teeth, which were exposed to stress however, resin composite as a restorative material is more demandable if esthetical reason is preferred in veterinary dentistry.

  One of the main cause of stress in livestock is the vision problems. The goal of this study was to determine Intraocular Pressure (IOP) in Anatolian Buffaloes (AB) by means of applanation tonometry using Tono-Pen XL for the investigation of a stress factor in welfare of the anatolian buffaloes. A total of 2118 eyes were examined from 1059 apparently healthy AB aged between 1 and 8 years old from both sexes. IOP of AB were measured with Tono-Pen XL three times for each eyes in the morning at noon and in the evening during afternoon examination. IOPs of the left eyes were found to be 22.05±2.68 mmHg (range 16.5-27.3 mmHg) whereas the right eyes were 22.07±2.68 mmHg (range 16.1-27.0 mmHg). Comparison of the tonometry between the right and left eyes of AB showed no significant difference. IOP was decreased in accordance with the age of the animal. To the knowledge, this is the 1st report of tonometrical investigation performed in AB. It was determined that IOP for AB could be 22.05±2.68 mmHg (range 16.1-27.3 mmHg).

  A 10 weeks old, male domesticated goose was presented to Afyon Kocatepe University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Surgery Clinics with the complaints of non-appetite, infirmity and sudden weight loss. In clinical examination, the goose had severe abdominal sensitivity and free of any bone fracture. In radiological examination, a foreign body which was suspected as nail was determined in the abdominal region. Under general anesthesia, surgery was performed with the midline incision of the abdomen and then ventriculotomy was done. Foreign body was removed as determined as nail. Incisions on ventriculus and abdomen were closed routinely. Postoperatively, antibiotherapy, pain control and diet management were considered. The goose recovered in a week and appetite was restored normally. This case report aimed to report a rarely encountered ventricular foreign body (nail) in a goose.

  This study was designed to study the microbiological status of the foreskin mucosa in 100 healthy dogs and determine their antibiotic sensitivity. The most frequently identified organism in the dog foreskin was Staphylococcus sp. (36%) followed in order of frequency by E. coli (30%), Proteus sp. (16%), Pseudomonas sp. (6%), Streptococcus sp. (6%), Bacillus sp. (4%) and Corynebacterium sp. (2%). The isolated strains were subjected to antibiotic susceptibility testing. Staphylococcus sp., E. coli, Streptococcus sp., Bacillus sp. and Corynebacterium sp. were very frequently susceptible to danofloxacin, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, cloxacillin, amoxicilin and ceftiofur. It is concluded that the use of danofloxacin, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, cloxacillin, amoxicilin and ceftiofur can be useful in the treatment of infections of the male genital organ.
