Slurry Infiltrated Fibrous Concrete (SIFCON) is a special type of fibre concrete with high fibre content. The matrix usually consists of cement slurry or flowing mortar. Cement content in the slurry leads to greater heat of hydration, higher shrinkage and high production cost. Partial replacement of cement with flyash brings down the above mentioned draw backs. The aim of the present work is to study the effect of fly ash and fiber content on mechanical properties of SIFCON and to arrive the optimum percentage of flyash and fiber content. An experimental investigation was carried out to study the mechanical properties of fly ash based SIFCON by replacing cement with 10, 20 and 30% of flyash. Fiber content in SIFCON is varied as 6, 8 and 10%. The results are compared with control specimen. It is concluded that fly ash based SIFCON were positively affected the results for every percentage replacement of fly ash. The results indicated that the replacement of cement with fly ash decreased the compressive strength and addition of steel fibers developed marginal increase in strength.
