  In this study, twenty clinically healthy male camels (Camelus dromedarius) wrestling in traditional competitions were used to investigate preputial aerobic bacterial flora and antibiotic susceptibility. The aerobic bacteria included Serratia liquifaciens, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus sp., Klebsiella ozaenae, Pseudomonas sp., Shigella sp., Enterobacter cloaceae, Flavobacterium sp., Actinomyces sp., Acinetobacter sp., Acinetobacter calcoaceticus and Bacillus sp. were the most common organisms and identified from the preputial samples. In this study, antibiotic susceptibility and resistance were also studied. All of the isolates that were identified in this study were susceptible to ciprofloxacine (100%), danofloxacine (89.2%) and resistant to cloxacillin (100%), sulbactam-ampicillin (85.7%) and cefuroxim sodium (64.2%).

  Trichomoniasis is sexually transmitted disease in cattle. Causative agent of trichomoniasis is Tritrichomonas foetus that colonizes only in the reproductive tract mucosa of cattle and causes from mild vaginitis or cervicitis to endometritis, transient or permanent infertility and abortion leading to economic losses. The parasite is transmitted from infected bulls to heifers/cows during mating. The aim of the study was to investigate the prevalence of T. foetus infection in dairy cows with some reproductive disorders in Aydin province of Turkey. In this study 164 dairy cows between 2-9 years old suffered from various reproductive disorders (vaginal discharge, metritis, abortus, repeat breeder and anoestrus) were used. For this purpose, smears prepared from the vagina were fixed for 15 min by fixative solution. The slides were then air-dried, stained with Giemsa for 40 min and washed with distilled water. All slides were then examined microscopically. The primary purpose of staining is to optimize the visualization of key anatomic structures to facilitate accurate identification of an organism. The percentage of infected cows was found 8.53% (n = 14). Two out of 7 cows with vaginal discharge, 3 out of 41 cows with metritis, 4 out of 4 cows with abortus and 5 out of 36 cows with repeat breeder were found as T. foetus positive. Anoestrus cows were not positive.

  The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between pregnancy rate and body weight, Body Condition Score (BCS), age, lactation, serum triglyceride, cholesterol and paraoxanase levels of Saanen goats in breeding season. Data were obtained from 55 Saanen does under kept semi-extensive conditions. For estrus synchronization, vaginal sponges containing 40 mg Fluorogestone Acetate (FGA) were applied for 14 days and 500 IU equine gonadotropin hormone (eCG) was injected on the day of vaginal sponges removed. Blood samples were collected from vena jugularis also body weights, body condition scores (5-point scale), ages and lactation status of all goats were recorded at the time of sponges removed. Estrus detection was performed with teaser buck at 48 h after removal of the sponges. All does in estrus were mated with fertile bucks. After 12th day of post-mating, 4 μg gonadorelin was injected intramuscularly for enhance luteal function. Pregnancy diagnosis was performed by transrectal ultrasonography at 40th day of post-mating. The relationship between pregnancy rates and body weight, BCS, age, lactation, blood triglyceride, cholesterol and paraoxanase levels at mating day were statistically analyzed. The body weight and BCS were significantly effected the pregnancy rates (p<0.05) but there were no relation between pregnancy rate and other parameters (p>0.05). It is concluded that body weight and BCS has a significant effect on fertility of Saanen goats during breeding season and the necessity of using higher energy feeding in goats with lower BCS and weight before breeding season.
