  This investigation was carried out between the years of 2002 and 2004 in order to determine the flora of Kuyulu (Turuş) erosion district that is being recovered by TEMA to get the land pasture again. Research area is situated in the province of Adıyaman and within C7 of the grid system and in the region of upper Mesopotamia. In the investigation area, 303 t axa belonging to 45 families and 182 genera were determined. Of all the collected specimens, 25 taxa are localised to Upper Euphrates and 18 taxa are endemic for Turkey.

  In this study pollen morphological diversity is described for Alopecuroidei DC. (Alopecias bunge) species belonging to genus Astragalus L. (Fabaceae) occurring in Turkey. The study was based on light and scanning electron microscopic observations of pollen grains collected from herbarium specimens. Members of the section studied posses tricolpate subprolate or prolate spheroidal pollen grains with a microreticulate exine ornamentation and semi-angular amb.

This research was carried out from 2004 to 2006 in order to determine the flora of the region between Zeytinbahçe and Akarçay, Birecik district. The research area is situated in Þanlýurfa province and within C7 of the grid system. In the area, 442 taxa belonging to 62 families and 253 genera were determined. Of all the collected specimens, 30 taxa are new records for the C7 square, 16 (3.59%) taxa are endemic for Turkey, 2 taxa belong to Cryptogamae, and 440 taxa belong to Phanerogamae.<./P>

In the distribution of the taxa according to floristic regions, Irano-Turanian elements ranked first, with a rate of 30.79%; followed by Mediterranean elements, with a rate of 11.46%; Euro-Siberian elements, with a rate of 2.92%; and Sahora-Arabian elements, with a rate of 0.22%. Of the species determined, 8.01% are widespread, while 46.77% of the taxa are of unknown or multiregional phytogeographical region.

The families with the most taxa in the research area are Asteraceae (64), Fabaceae (51), Poaceae (40), Brassicaceae (24), Lamiaceae (23), and Apiaceae (20). Concerning the number of species, the richest genera in this region are as follows: Astragalus L. (8),Medicago L. (8), Trigonella L. (7), Euphorbia L. (7), Vicia L. (6), Trifolium L. (6), Centaurea L. (5), and Salvia L. (4).

This study was carried out between 2001 and 2004 to determine the geophytic flora of Sanliurfa, located within C6, C7, and C8 of the grid system in Turkey. In all, 789 plant specimens that consisted of 104 taxa belonging to 13 families and 30 genera were gathered from the investigation area. Of all the collected specimens, 19 taxa were new records for C6, C7, and C8, and 11 taxa were endemic to Turkey.

Scilla mesopotamica Speta, which was first collected from Sanliurfa-Halfeti in 1888 by Sintenis and was considered a missing species, was rediscovered after 116 years during this study. Colchicum crocifolium Boiss. was also determined as a new record for Turkey.

According to floristic regions, Irano-Turanian elements ranked first among the specimens, accounting for 47.12%, followed by Mediterranean elements (25.00%) and Euro-Siberian elements (0.96%). Some of the identified species (26.92%) were widespread and of unknown phytogeographic origin. In addition, 86.54% of the collected taxa were determined to be monocotyledons and the remaining (13.46%) were dicotyledons.

The families with the most taxa in the research area were Liliaceae (59) and Iridaceae (14). Concerning the number of species, the major genera in this region were as follows: Allium L. (17), Ornithogalum L. (10), Gagea Salisb. (9), Bellevalia Lapeyr. (6), and Iris L. (6). Moreover, of all collected taxa, 57.69% were bulbous, 21.15% were tuberous, 17.31% were cormous, and 3.85% were rhizomous. Concerning flowering time, 93.27% of the taxa bloomed in early-spring and spring, while 6.73% bloomed in autumn.

  The pollen morphology of 45 specimens of 29 species of the genus Astragalus L. of the section Onobrychoidei DC. distributed in Turkey was studied with light and electron microscopies. The pollen is generally 3-colporate. Pollen of the section is prolate, subprolate, and prolate-spheroidal. Size varies, with the polar axis ranging from 23.4 to 42.6 µm and the equatorial axis from 14.3 to 36.4 µm. The outline is elliptic or compressed oval in the meridional section, versus trilobulate and sometimes tetralobulate in the polar optical section. Sculpturing is usually microreticulate, rarely reticulate or rugulate in the meridional optical section, and psilate and perforate (with irregular or circular perforations) in the polar optical section.

  This study describes the karyotypes of 10 Turkish species of Trigonella L. belonging to section Cylindricae Boiss. (Leguminosae). Excluding the karyotypes of T. velutina Boiss. and of T. sibthorpii Boiss., which were previously studied, all of the other 8 species were studied here for the first time. The species of the section were gathered from different localities in Turkey, and it was determined that the somatic chromosome numbers for all species were the same (2n = 16). Also, satellite metaphase chromosomes were determined in T. velutina and T. strangulata.
