  This study was made to determine the effect of cage stocking density on growth, feed consumption and, slaughter and carcass characteristics of rock partridges (A. Graeca). In the study, 135 rock partridge chicks at 4 weeks of age were separated into 3 different placing groups (Two sub groups of 25, two subgroups of 20 and three subgroups of 15 partidges). Group I was gathered in an area of 25 partridges/m2, Group II in an area of 20 partridges/m2 and Group III in an area of 15 partridges/m2. As a result, in Groups I, II and III, partridge weights were found to be 453.06, 446.04 and 444.36 g, feed benefit ratios were 5.84, 6.26 and 6.10; life strength values were 92.00%, 95.00% and 91.11%; carcass output were 72.11%, 72.42% and 73.68%, respectively . The differences between the groups were not statistically significant. Cage stocking density was there fore observed not to have an effect on these parameters.

  In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of high temperature on the live weight, food consumption, taking benefit from the food, living strength, some carcass characteristics and the respective effects on the living strength. By this purpose, 584 quails at the age of 1 week were separated into two groups; one of the groups was identified as the control group to be placed under variable temperature (18-24oC), and the other group (trial group) was kept under 35oC. As a result of the research, the differences between the control and trial groups regarding to the live weight, carcass weight and carcass productivity, food consumption and the values of taking benefit from the food were found significant. (P< 0.05, P< 0.01). Depending on the higher temperatures, some decreases were found in the live weight, food consumption and the values of taking benefit from the food, living strength.

  This study was made in order to determine the growth and life strength characteristics of rock partridges (A. Graeca) in intensive breeding conditions. The study was initiated with 354 chicks, which hatched recently and proceeded with 317 chicks after 4th week when chicks were separated into groups within the cage and on the ground 182 chicks were placed in the ground system (1098 cm2 /partridge) while 135 chicks were placed in the cage system (1060 cm2 /partridge) in order to determine the effects of intensive breeding methods on growth and life strength characteristics. Chick growing feed was used until 16th week to feed the partridges and then egg-laying chicken feed was used in order to feed the female partridges. Feeding was made ad libitum during the study. While no significant difference could be observed between the average animal weights in ground and cage groups until 11.week, the differences in 11., 12., 14., 15.weeks (P<0.05) and 13.week (P<0.01) were considered to be significant. In the 16th week of breeding, the weights were measured as 435.76 g and 445.61 g respectively, which show a significant difference between ground and cage groups (P<0.05) . In weeks 20, 23, 27 and 32, the average weights of the female rock partridges in ground groups were significantly more than the weights of the female rock partridges in the cage groups (P<0.01) . In ground and cage groups, life strength values were 63.73% and 92.59% respectively between week 4 and week 16, which shows a significant difference (P<0.01) . It was observed that, in intensive conditions, breeding in cage might be better than breeding on the ground, in means of animal weight increase and life strength values.

  In this study, the effects of storage period of rock partridge eggs on hatchability characteristics and embryonic deaths were examined. In the study, a total number of 752 eggs which were obtained from a herd of rock partridges at 41 weeks of age were used. In different storage periods (1-14 days), no significant effect of storage period on hatchability performances of the partridge eggs was observed. Long storage time did not affect the hatchability of partridge eggs. It was observed that embryonic deaths in late period were more (not statistically significant) than early or medium periods. The least embryonic deaths were observed at early periods. As a result, it can be stated that, 14 days of partridge egg storage have no negative effect on hatchability results.

  This study was made in order to determine the feed performance, slaughtering and carcass characteristics of rock partridges (A. graeca) in intensive breeding conditions.In the study, 317 partridges were used to determine the feed performance and 50 partridges were used to determine the slaughtering and carcass properties. 182 chicks were placed in the ground system (1098 cm /partridge) while 135 chicks were placed in the cage system (1060 cm /partridge) in order to determine the effects of intensive breeding methods on feed performance, slaughtering and carcass characteristics. Chick growing feed was used until 16.th week to feed the partridges and then egg-laying chicken feed was used in order to feed the female partridges. Feeding was made ad libitum during the study. Average animal weight increase between week 4 and week 16 in ground and cage groups were found as 332.96 and 342.48 g and between week 16 and week 32 as 54.64 and 34,44 g, respectively. Feed consumption of ground and cage groups between week 4 and 16 were found as 1706.78 and 1698.19 g; benefiting from feed ratios were found as 5.12 and 4.95; feed consumption of ground and cage groups between week 16 and week 32 were found as 352.75 and 334.34 g; benefiting from feed ratios were found as 6.45 and 9.70. Carcass efficiencies were found, respectively in ground and cage groups as 71.88 and 72.85%; leg ratios as 40.37% and 41.66 (p<0.05); wing ratios 10.30 and 9.38% (p< 0.01 ); gizzard ratios as 4.19 and 3.48% (p<0.01).
