  Microbial transformation of two anabolic steroids, ethylestrenol (1) and nandrolone (2), were carried out. Ethylestrenol (1), when incubated with Rhizopus stolonifer (TSY 0471), yielded two oxidative metabolites named 17β-ethyl-3β,17β-dihydroxy-19-norndrost-4-ene (3) and 17β-ethyl-17β-hydroxy-19-norandrost-4-en-3-one (4), while incubation of compound 2 with the same fungus yielded two oxidative metabolites, 19-norandrost-4-en-3,17-dione (5) and 6β,17β-dihydroxy-19-norandrost-1,4-dien-3-one (6).

  Investigation of roots of Rhazya stricta (Apocynanaceae) of Pakistan origin lead to isolation of two new fatty esters 9-octadecenoic acid-2`,3`-dihydroxy propyl ester (1) and hexadecanoic acid-2`,3`-dihydroxy propyl ester (2). Linked scan MS measurements were used to propose a mass fragmentation pattern for the fatty ester 9-octadecenoic acid-2`,3`-dihydroxy propyl ester.

  Biotransformation of dydrogesterone (1) by using cell suspension cultures of Azadirachta indica yielded a metabolite 20R-hydroxy-9β,10α-pregna-4,6-diene-3-one (2). The structure of this compound was deduced on the basis of various spectroscopic techniques.
