  The frequencies of ABO and Rhesus (D) blood groups and influence of gender were determined on prevalence of these blood groups. Blood group B was found to be the most frequent (38.004%). The frequency of blood group O was 28.755%, for group A 23.260% and for group AB 9.981%. In Rhesus blood grouping system the frequency of Rhesus (D) positive was 89.094%. Gene frequencies with respect to ABO and Rhesus (D) negative were different as for only ABO and ABO along with Rhesus (D) positive. The trend can be shown with a general formula O > B > A > AB. Group A positive (24.299%, 6.542% respectively) and negative (21.777%, 4.000% respectively) was more frequent in females as compared to males. In contrast group AB was more prevalent in males (12.444%) as compared to females (9.345%). There was a real preponderance of the blood group B over the blood groups O, A and AB as well as Rh (D) positive over Rh (D) negative. Predominance of blood group A in women was also reported. Group A along with Rhesus (D) negative group was more frequent than group B along with Rhesus (D) negative.

  Filter Press Cake (Mud) was enriched with biomass protein using Arachniotus sp. as fermentative organism. The Mud was dewaxed for increased protein production before fermentation. Proximate analysis of native and biomass was done. It was found that after fermentation ash contents decreased from 17.50 to 16.00 % and fiber was decreased from 28 to 2%. Ether extract remained the same. Prior to the production of biomass protein certain conditions like fermentation period (72 h), substrate to water ratio (6%), (NH4)2SO4(0.1%), CaCl2.2H2O (0.025%), MgSO4.7H2O (0.015%), KH2PO4 (0.1%), Cane molasses (1.5%), and Corn Steep Liquor (2.0%) were optimized. These conditions were then applied to produce biomass protein on large scale. The biomass thus produced contained 26.25% crude protein, 13.12% true protein, 6.73% ether extract, 16% ash and 2% crude fiber. Amino acid analysis of biomass revealed the presence of 15 amino acids. The chemical score of protein was `0` and Leucine and Valine were first and second limiting amino acids respectively. The protein quality of biomass was tested in terms of digestibility that showed an average digestibility of 80.917%.

  Ofloxacin a synthetic fluorinated analog of nalidixic acid is broad spectrum antibiotic. This study was designed to find pharmacokinetics of ofloxacin in healthy male volunteers under indigenous conditions. A total of 15 healthy male volunteers were included in this study. Ofloxacin (200 mg) was administered orally and blood samples were collected at different time intervals. The blood samples were analyzed for drug concentration by microbiological assay. The plasma concentration verses times data was used to determine pharmacokinetics parameters by one compartment model kinetic analysis. The mean (SD) values for different parameters were, absorption rate constant (Ka) 7.833 (8.683) l h -1, area under curve (AUC) 14.545 (4.304) h, mg l -1, total body clearance (CI) 14.913 (4.373) l h -1, volume of distribution (Vd) 130.76 (25.598) l, elimination half life (t1/2 ) 6.419 (1.789) h, elimination rate constant (k10 ) 0.154 (0.139) l h -1, mean residence time (MRT) 10.104 (2.384) h, absorption half life (t1/2α ) 0.212 (0.151) h, time to maximum concentration (tmax) 1.397 (0.599) h and maximum concentration (Cmax) 1.416 (0.305)micro grams ml -1. Values of parameters like Vd, AUC and Cl were comparable with foreign studies. While t1/2β , Ka were higher, and C max , tmax were lower in local population as compared with the foreign studies.
