  This study was aimed at the design and implementation of a computer controlled fuel level monitoring system. This was achieved by designing a monitoring circuit; this monitoring circuit will measure the quantity of fuel inside a fuel tank at four different levels representing 4 sensors. If the fuel goes below the minimum level, the alarm system embedded in the circuit will be triggered. Anything above this level, the alarm will go off. As the level of fuel increases, it will display on the computer screen when it reaches a particular sensor level. When the fuel level rises to the fourth and final level which represents the maximum, the alarm will be triggered for a while before going off automatically. The monitoring circuit communicates with the computer system with the aid of an interface. A visual basic program is used to interpret the signal being sent from the device and displays the output on the computer screen.

  Load forecasting is an essential part of an efficient power system planning and operation. This research work is on short term electricity load forecasting using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Ogbomoso a city in Nigeria is considered as a case study. Input variables considered are past loads history, hours of the day and days of the week, while the output is the forecasted load for 24 h ahead. The training tool Neurosolution was employed in simulating and designing the feed forward back propagation forecasting network. Result obtained shows that electricity load can be predicted ahead of time also, it can also be inferred from this research that, load forecast using neural network is somewhat intelligent in that it gives real values even when the past load history is of zero value. This shows that areas without constant supply of electricity can still forecast future loads with a reasonable error margin so as to help in better load distribution and effective load shedding planning.

  A database management system (DBMS) is a system, usually automated and computerized, for the management of any collection of compatible and ideally normalized data. The focus of this research is to compare 2 database technologies for software developers to have the advantage of selecting the best technology in terms of Execution time, Resource consumption and Space and data capacity. In the course of this research work the following database management systems (DBMS) were considered, MySQL Server and Borland Interbase Server. Selecting from diverse existing software development tools, Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 was used in designing the front-end engine for the entire database system analysis and evaluation. It was found out that for large quantities of data that needs to be tracked and also seek or make use of selection, update and delete transaction will request more of the interbase server, because of its high speed in performing those transaction, while for insertion transaction MySQL server performed better.

  Different methods of providing security of sensitive/personal data have been developed which include Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), Passwords, Identity Cards, etc. and these have not been successful enough in providing the required security. Passwords can be easily forgotten or stolen, ID cards can be forged and this stresses the need for improving security by the use of the voice, which is unique to each person and cannot be stolen and is very difficult to forge. The voice among other biometric features is the safest level of protection of sensitive/personal data, therefore this research provide a framework of a text dependent speaker identification system which serves as a security tools in system operations so that by identifying the voice of a user there cannot be any denial of transactions within the system.

  Several factors are responsible for signal corruption but the most common factors are attenuation distortions, delay distortion and noise. Noise is a major limiting factor in communication system performance and they are caused by several means over various channel. In this research, a model was developed by the use of an application in MATLAB called simulink to simulate the effect of distortion on signals and adaptive filtered was also modeled to filter the noise that constitute the distortion. It was found out that by the use of an adaptive filter noise cancellation could be effected. The results are graphically displayed by the various graphs of the input signal, signal with noise and the filtered output.
