Synthesis of Some New Pyrrole and Pyridine Derivatives and their Antimicrobial, Anticancer Activities

Abstract: The compounds of 2,2'-[(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-2,4-diyl) dicarbonyl]dihydrazine carboxamide(2), 2,2’-[(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-2,4-diyl)dicarbonyl]dihydrazine carbothioamide(3), 2,2'-{[4-(furan-2-yl)-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-diyl]dicarbonyl}dihydrazine carboxamide(5) and 2,2'-{[4-(furan-2-yl)-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dihydropyridine -3,5-diyl]dicarbonyl}dihydrazine carbothioamide (6) were synthesized from hydrazinolysis method and synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, mass spectral, mass spectral fragmentation and elemental analysis. Synthesized compounds were screened for antimicrobial and anticancer activities. Evaluation of antibacterial, antifungal activity showed that the compounds exhibited better results than reference drugs. The newly synthesized compounds have been screened for preliminary anticancer activity against HepG2(Liver), Hela(Cervical), MCF-7(Breast) cancer cells. Activity has been compared with standard drug. Structure Activity Relationship (SAR) has also been discussed in this study.
