Determination of Change Detection of Lanscape of the Kucuk Menderes Delta Using GIS and the Remote Sensing Techniques

Remote sensing and GIS offers an important means of detecting and analyzing temporal changes occurring in the earth surface. This research used remote sensing and GIS to quantify landscape changes at the Kucuk Menderes Basin, Izmir, Turkey. In this study, we concentrated on determining the geomorphology of the with time of the coastal strip and the coastal part of the Kucuk Menderes Basin towards terrestrial formation using aerial photographs and satellite images involving remote sensing techniques. Making use of satellite images of 2001, topographic maps and aerial photographs of previous years, were used to determine geomorphological aspects of change detection and geomorphology of the region.
