Abstract: DC/AC power converters are very much useful to provide ac output from DC power supply. Based on their operation, these converters find their way in lot of applications such as Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), HVDC Transmission System etc. These converters are often classified into voltage source and current source inverters. In these, multi level configuration is common for both converters which are suitable for high power applications. This study explains a different multi level current source inverter configuration with various PWM control strategies. The operation and analysis of the proposed converter with control strategies are examined through PSIM and MATLAB simulation. The result shows the variation in the output Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) for different control methods.
